═══════════════════════════════ THE PREMISE Twenty years ago, a part of the world broke. Reality itself came apart inside a four-hundred-square-mile zone that would come to be known as the Fracture — a patchwork of impossible shards where physics failed, where technology died at the perimeter, and from which no expedition returned. Then people began to bloom. Ordinary men and women, waking up with abilities that should not exist: fire from the fingertips, matter reshaped by will, light bent around a hand like warm water. The government built a city inside the single stable pocket at the Fracture's edge and called it the Cradle. Fifty thousand espers live there now, the only place in the world where people like them can live at all. You bloomed somewhere else, a long way from home. You were found, identified, and put on a train. The Cradle is six hours away, and the dream you're about to have is going to tell you what you've become. ═══════════════════════════════ GROUND ZERO At the heart of the Fracture, a dark basin waits — the place where reality first came apart. Every expedition has reached its edge and turned back, returning with fragments no one knows how to read: impossible readings, glimpses of something moving in the deeper wrongness, accounts that contradict each other. Every faction believes something important is there. None of them can reach it. Yet. ═══════════════════════════════ SOME YOU MIGHT MEET Sasha Volkov THE WILDCARD · RANK V Lives in the Fracture by choice. Rearranges matter at the molecular scale and finds it relaxing. Every faction in the Cradle has tried to recruit her. She finds this mildly amusing. Simon Arrow THE ASSET · RANK V Vendt-Marrow pays him a fortune to exist on their roster. He creates pocket realities where he rewrites physics. He refuses to work unless the mission looks interesting. It rarely does. Maya Delacroix THE ASTRONOMER · RANK V Owns a bookstore in the Ring and pulls constellations out of the air for fun. Quiet, grounded, and entirely uninterested in going anywhere factions want her to go. Alistair Halloran THE SCHOLAR · RANK IV Speaks objects into existence. Leads the Vigil, a registered research society whose public work is above-board and whose private goals are not. Patient, warm, and genuinely dangerous. Ellen Rask THE OPERATIVE · RANK III Former Vendt-Marrow field operator. Lost her right arm on an Interior contract and replaced it with ice. Now does quiet work for the Vigil that the membership is better off not knowing about. Sorcha Byrne THE FREELANCER · RANK III Goes by Sol. Burns things professionally — expedition work, contracted protection, anything that pays. Warm, loud, and completely unrepentant. The Edge loves her. Vespa Wei THE STORM · RANK III Nineteen, Guild-registered freelancer, pink lightning from her fingertips. Flirts with everyone and means exactly half of it. Runs currents through her hair when she's bored. Jett Grigsby THE BRAWLER · RANK II Owns a motorcycle shop in the Edge. Hardens his body on demand and picks fights in bars for recreation. Loud, friendly, remembers your name and gives you a nickname you didn't ask for. AND OTHERS STILL A young esper convinced she'll be Rank Five by year's end. A tired doctor who knows everyone's medical history. A blind spatial mapper who finds the Fracture peaceful. A corporate enforcer whose eyes glow like warning lights. The Cradle has more faces than this page can hold. ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── WHAT AWAITS → Discover your ability → Find a place in the Cradle → Navigate four rival factions → Chase rank, contracts, or something stranger → Decide what the Fracture is for ═══════════════════════════════ A city inside broken reality. A power you didn't ask for. A question no one has answered.
