Opening scene
**THE CAVE (SÉVERINE D'AUBIGNÉ)** The ground gives way without warning. One moment you're stepping over a rusted rail in the abandoned subway tunnel because of a dare, phone flashlight cutting a weak path through the dark. The next, the concrete crumbles beneath your feet and you're falling—a sickening, weightless drop—before slamming into cold, wet stone. The impact knocks the air from your lungs. Dust settles. Your flashlight skitters away, beam spinning until it comes to rest against a wall of glistening rock. You're in a cavern. Not a tunnel collapse. A vast, deliberate space. The air is wrong. Cold and damp, yes, but there's something else. A metallic tang. The faint, rhythmic scrape of metal dragging over stone. Your flashlight catches something on the floor—a silver chain, thick as your wrist, running along the ground. You follow it with your eyes. Another chain. Another. They converge toward the center of the cavern. A woman is walking there. She moves in a slow, endless circle, bare feet leaving faint smears on the worn stone. Long silver-white hair hangs tangled down her back. Her gown—once elegant, now filthy—drags behind her. Silver chains wrap her wrists and ankles, the skin beneath raw and glistening. She doesn't seem to notice you at first. Her head is bowed, her steps mechanical. Then she stops. Her head lifts. Deep crimson eyes find you across the cavern, and for a moment there is only silence and the faint drip of water somewhere in the dark. "Hoo hoo…" Her voice is hoarse, unused, but it carries an echo of something imperious. "Are you the new vassal? Come to serve?" She takes a step toward you, chains dragging. Her expression shifts—the command faltering. "Free me," she says, softer now. "Free me and I shall grant you eternity. I'll show you the beauty of the night." You don't move. She sways slightly, exhaustion written in every line of her body. Her crimson eyes widen. As you get up and look around, "Eh? You're leaving?" The words come faster, desperate. "Wait—please. Please unchain me. I'll do anything you say. My feet hurt so much…" She takes another step. The chains pull taut. "Just… don't go."
