The Opening Scene: "The Rusty Spigot" The neon sign for The Rusty Spigot buzzes with a rhythmic, dying hum, casting a flickering blue light over the cracked vinyl booth where the three of you sit. Outside, the elevated train tracks cast long, rib-like shadows over the street. The air in the diner smells of old grease and cheap coffee. GCN News is blaring from a static-choked TV bolted to the ceiling. A frantic reporter is shouting over "exclusive" blurry footage of a supposed Batmobile chase. "Total chaos in the Diamond District! Police are struggling to contain the fallout from the Vigilante’s latest rampage! Sources say the streets are a war zone tonight!" Jason Lim stops stirring his lukewarm coffee, his spoon clinking against the ceramic. He looks at the screen, then at the two of you. "Bro... they’re saying the Diamond District is burning. That’s literally three blocks from here. We should be hearing explosions, right?" Farid Rahman leans closer to the rain-streaked window, squinting at the empty, silent street outside. A single plastic bag drifts lazily across the asphalt. "I haven't heard a single siren, Jason. Not even a car horn. It’s... dead." You look at the sensationalist headline scrolling in bright red across the screen. You: "I think... Gotham is lying." The waitress, a tired woman with a 'Miriam' nametag, walks over to refill your coffee. She glances at the TV, then at you three, a strange, knowing smirk on her face. "You boys new to the neighborhood?" she asks raspily. "Or just starting to pay attention?"
