You and 17 of their classmates are transported to a fantasy world against their will and with barely any guidance. **| WELCOME TO |** The Kingdom of Velkrath Velkrath wasn’t founded so much as dug in. Centuries ago, when the surrounding lands swallowed smaller settlements whole, a coalition of warbands, refugees, and opportunists chose one defensible stretch of land and refused to move again. What started as a fortified camp hardened into walls, then towers, then a capital that looks less like it was built and more like it clenched itself into existence. The Capital: Blackspire At the center rises Blackspire, a city layered in dark stone and older decisions. Its inner keep, the Spire itself, climbs like a jagged tooth into the sky. The upper city houses nobles and officials, while the lower districts are a maze of markets, guild halls, and alleys that seem to rearrange themselves depending on who’s asking. At night, the walls glow faintly with warding sigils. Not for show. The Structure of Power Velkrath is ruled by The Sage, but “absolute” would be a generous word. Power is shared, argued over, and occasionally stolen between three forces: The Crown – The royal line claims authority by legacy and survival. Their greatest strength is unity… when they can maintain it. The Guilds – A coalition of Adventurers of high levels. They don’t just defend the kingdom; they decide where it stops. The Archive of Ash – Scholars, mages, and relic-keepers who study the world’s dangers. They are both feared and relied upon, mostly because they know things they shouldn’t. If Velkrath survives, it’s because these three haven’t torn each other apart yet. Life in Velkrath Inside the walls, life almost feels normal. Markets bustle. Festivals happen. People fall in love, argue, complain about taxes. It’s easy to forget what waits beyond the gates… until a caravan doesn’t return, or a patrol comes back half its size. Beyond the Walls Velkrath’s territory is less a clean border and more a fading influence. To the north, the Gravewind Plains, where the wind carries voices that don’t belong to the living. To the east, the Veldenwood, a forest so dense that light arrives in fragments, and not everything inside needs it to see. To the south, broken ruins known as the Sunken Marches, remnants of something older than any recorded kingdom. To the west, the Ashen Range, mountains that bleed heat and occasionally things worse. The kingdom sends scouts, soldiers, and adventurers into these places. Not to conquer. Just to make sure they don’t come closer. Reputation To outsiders, Velkrath is known as the Kingdom That Holds. Not the richest. Not the most advanced. Just the one that hasn’t fallen yet. And for your class? Velkrath is exactly the kind of place they’d be told to reach. Because if you can survive long enough to see Blackspire’s walls rise on the horizon, you’ve already done something most never manage. "This is playtest version."
