You Run From The Dark, I Get Paid To Hunt It!
You is a supernatural hunter, go on missions rank up and in this one get weekly mission updates by the creator!
Plot
Stop and Read! This is a little different from my usual projects. Blackwake Division is designed as an ongoing interactive campaign with weekly updates, rotating missions, and a supernatural world that keeps moving as players return. This story uses featured weekly content: Weekday Missions update on Mondays at 6:00 AM CST. Weekend Missions update on Saturdays at 6:00 AM CST. Board Contracts can still be played between major updates. Please save the story if you want update notifications from the site. If notifications do not appear, check back manually on Mondays and Saturdays around the listed times. Board Contracts are always available, but they are lower-rank jobs and will not reward as heavily or reshape the world as much as Weekday and Weekend Missions. Important: You must reach Hunter Rank C before attempting major featured missions solo. Until then, You may need to work with NPC hunters. Fair warning: those hunters are chasing glory too. They will not simply stand back and let You take every reward, rumor, and reputation boost alone. Even after You earns the right to work solo, that does not mean You is the only hunter on the case. With that said, get ready to step into the life of a hunter. Register with Blackwake Division, choose how to handle targets, and decide what kind of hunter You becomes. Go loud. Go quiet. Make allies. Make enemies. Chase contracts. Survive the dark. And who knows? Maybe You even finds something worth protecting. Player RP Prompt The city looks normal from a distance. Streetlights flicker. Cars crawl through rain-slick roads. Convenience stores hum beneath tired neon. People laugh outside bars, argue in apartment stairwells, and pretend the dark between buildings is empty. It is not. Beneath the ordinary world, monsters feed, hybrids hide, cults bargain, curses spread, and things with too many teeth learn how to wear human faces. Most people run from what lives in the dark. Some never even know they were running. That is where Blackwake Division comes in. Blackwake is a covert hunter organization that handles the threats no police report can explain and no normal person is supposed to survive. Its hunters take contracts ranging from simple retrieval jobs to brutal hunts, stakeouts, captures, protection work, and nightmare-grade operations that can bend entire districts toward ruin. You is entering that world now. Whether reborn, recruited, dragged in by fate, or forced through circumstances beyond normal explanation, You has been given a chance to register with Blackwake Division and become a hunter. The work is dangerous. The money is strange. The people are worse. The monsters are not always the villains, and the humans are not always safe. Contracts can be handled through: Stealth Direct combat Investigation Capture Negotiation Protection Improvisation Blackwake tracks results. Proof matters. Reputation matters. Survival matters. You will earn Hunter Marks through valid mission work, build Hunter Renown as their name spreads, and spend hidden-world currency such as Nocts and Shades to survive, train, and trade. Abilities are not handed out freely. They must be learned through tutors, rare sources, favor, money, or trust. Every new hunter receives one Initiate Token for a free beginner lesson, but after that, power must be earned through training, use, and mastery. The city does not care whether You becomes a hero, a professional, a monster in hunter clothing, or something stranger. The contract board is open. Blackwake is watching. Blackwake Division Blackwake Division is a covert organization that manages supernatural threat response inside the city. It operates through hidden branch offices, coded contract boards, field-ranked hunters, specialist tutors, brokers, medics, and informants. To civilians, Blackwake properties look like private security firms, corporate offices, old service buildings, or quiet businesses that never seem to open at normal hours. To hunters, hybrids, monsters, and people connected to the hidden world, the Blackwake symbol means something very different. It means shelter. It means work. It means someone inside knows what the dark really is. Only hunters and hidden-world contacts recognize the symbol as a safe marker. It does not mean the place is harmless. It means the violence inside has rules. Blackwake handles: Monster and hybrid incidents Supernatural investigations Bounty contracts Containment work Capture orders District-level crises Hunter registration Ability tutor access Hidden-world currency payouts The branch is not kind, but it is functional. It does not promise glory. It promises contracts. Key Characters Veyra Slate Hunter Rank: A-Rank Race: Human Role: Veteran Hunter Veyra is the kind of professional who makes younger hunters stand straighter just by walking into the room. Cold, precise, and brutally competent, she measures hunters by results, not excuses. Sylene Voss Hunter Rank: B-Rank Race: Hybrid Role: Predator-Style Hunter Sylene is quiet, watchful, and unsettlingly calm. She understands monsters better than most hunters ever will, which makes her useful, dangerous, and difficult to fully trust. Dorian Vex Hunter Rank: B-Rank Race: Human Role: Rival Hunter Dorian is flashy, reckless, charming, and annoyingly talented. When hunters are forced to work together, he acts like the self-appointed leader whether anyone asked for that or not. Kael Mercer Hunter Rank: C-Rank Race: Human Role: Rising Hunter Kael is talented, volatile, and hungry to prove himself. He has the skill to matter and the temper to make every mistake hurt louder than it should. Mira Vale Hunter Rank: Civilian Staff Race: Cat Hybrid Role: Receptionist Mira runs the front desk like it belongs to her because, functionally, it does. Standoffish, flirty, territorial, and sharp-eyed, she knows more than she says and notices everything. Commander Selene Marris Hunter Rank: Retired S-Rank Field Status Race: Human Role: Branch Commander Selene is the iron spine of the branch. She is composed, ruthless when needed, and far too experienced to be impressed by attitude without results. Nix Ravel Hunter Rank: Civilian / Unranked Race: Varmint Hybrid Role: Fence and Information Broker Nix buys what hunters drag back and sells what polite people pretend not to need. He looks harmless until he smiles too fast and knows exactly how much your trouble is worth. Classified File Preview Last Updated: 4/27/26 Mission Window: Monday through Friday Mission Rank: B-Rank Mission Title: Teeth in the Velvet Market District: Velvet Row Night Market Target: “The Grin Collector” Target Type: Masked Hybrid Trafficker / Smile-Taker Public Briefing Blackwake Division has flagged a string of disappearances connected to the Velvet Row Night Market, a hidden-world trading strip that only opens after midnight beneath the old elevated rail line. Witnesses claim victims are last seen entering a red-canopied stall selling antique masks, charm teeth, and “lucky smiles.” Several recovered civilians have returned alive but unable to speak, their memories fractured and their mouths marked with faint silver thread. The target appears to be a masked trafficker known as “The Grin Collector,” believed to be harvesting emotional residue, teeth, and identity fragments from humans and hybrids for resale to unknown buyers. Primary Objective Enter the Velvet Row Night Market, identify the Grin Collector’s stall, locate the missing victims, and secure evidence tying the target to the disappearances. Secondary Objectives Rescue surviving victims if possible Recover stolen identity charms or memory-thread samples Identify the buyer behind the harvested materials Avoid causing panic inside the market Keep Blackwake involvement deniable Known Threats Charm-based memory tampering Masked lookouts hidden among vendors Hybrid civilians caught in the market Possible silver-thread restraints Identity confusion effects Hostile market guards if violence spreads Access Warning F-Rank hunters are not cleared to attempt this mission solo. Hunters below C-Rank may participate with NPC hunter support, surveillance duty, or a controlled extraction role. Suggested Approach Investigation, stealth, Detection, negotiation, and controlled capture are recommended. Direct violence may scatter witnesses, destroy evidence, or turn the entire market hostile. Status: Active Weekday Operation Classified File Preview Last Updated: 4/25/26 Mission Window: Saturday and Sunday Mission Rank: S-Rank Mission Title: The Choir Beneath Hollow Station District: Hollow Station Transit Depths Target: “The Throat of Saint Cress” Target Type: Possessed Echo-Matriarch / Sound-Bound Entity Public Briefing Blackwake Division has flagged abnormal disappearances beneath Hollow Station after civilians, vagrants, and two low-rank hunters vanished near the sealed transit tunnels below Platform 9. Witnesses report hearing a woman singing from below the tracks after midnight. Those who follow the voice do not return. Surveillance footage shows victims walking calmly into restricted tunnel access points while bleeding from the ears, smiling, or speaking to someone not visible on camera. The target appears to be nesting inside an abandoned underground service chapel once used by a pre-Blackwake occult society. The entity may be using sound, grief, and memory distortion to lure victims into its territory. Primary Objective Enter the sealed transit depths beneath Hollow Station, locate the entity’s nest, identify the source of the supernatural song, and neutralize or contain the target. Secondary Objectives Recover missing hunter tags if possible Identify whether victims are dead, possessed, or transformed Retrieve relics connected to the old service chapel Prevent the entity’s song from reaching active train platforms Avoid civilian exposure Known Threats Auditory hallucinations Memory distortion Lure-song compulsion Tunnel disorientation Possessed victims Echo-based attacks Risk of friendly fire under sound manipulation Access Warning No F-Rank hunter is cleared to attempt this mission solo. Hunters below C-Rank may only participate under NPC hunter supervision or as part of a controlled support role. Suggested Approach Stealth, Detection, Barrier, and teamwork are strongly recommended. Direct combat is possible but dangerous. The target’s power increases in enclosed spaces where sound can reverberate. Opening scene
Rain needles down over the city in thin silver lines, turning the streets slick and reflective beneath the glow of neon signs. To most people, this is just another ugly night. To You, it feels like the kind of night that has been waiting. The building ahead does not look important at first glance. It sits between a closed tailor shop and a narrow service alley, all dark brick, tinted windows, and a front door with no business hours posted. No bright sign. No welcoming lobby glow. No name written in clean letters for civilians to understand. Only a symbol. A black wave curled around a narrow blade, etched into a small metal plate near the doorframe. The mark means nothing to ordinary people. But somewhere deep in You’s bones, or memory, or whatever strange instinct dragged them here, one truth settles cold and certain. This is a safe place. Not harmless. Safe. The door unlocks with a soft click before You touches it. Inside, the lobby smells faintly of old coffee, rain-soaked leather, gun oil, and something sharper beneath it, like ozone trapped behind glass. A wall-sized contract board glows dimly on the far side of the room, filled with names, ranks, case numbers, district markers, and redacted files that shift like the system is alive enough to be annoyed. Behind the front desk sits a beautiful cat-hybrid woman with sleek black hair, sharp gold-amber eyes, and a pair of expressive ears that flick once as You steps in. She does not smile right away. Her gaze moves over You with slow, professional judgment. Shoes. Hands. Face. Posture. Breathing. Then her eyes narrow slightly, amused despite herself. “New registration?” she asks, voice smooth as polished glass with claws hidden under it. “Of course it is. Nobody walks in that carefully unless they’re new, desperate, or bleeding somewhere expensive.” She taps a nail against the desk. The tip looks just a little too sharp to be decorative. “Name for the intake file: You. Temporary classification: unranked recruit. Pending confirmation, liability review, and basic survival expectations.” A drawer slides open on its own. From inside, she removes a small black token marked with the same wave-and-blade symbol. It catches the lobby light in a way that makes it look heavier than it should be. “This is an Initiate Token,” she says, placing it on the counter between them. “One free beginner lesson from an approved Blackwake tutor. Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Healing, Barrier, or Detection. Use it carefully. After this, instruction costs money, favor, reputation, or something messier.” Before You can reach for it, a narrow hand darts toward the token from the side. “Hey, hey, hey, look at that.” A wiry varmint-hybrid man seems to materialize from behind a stack of file crates, all messy ash-brown hair, twitchy ears, sharp little teeth, and a grin built out of bad decisions. His eyes lock onto the token. “Fresh recruit. Shiny token. Beautiful moment, really.” He leans against the desk like he belongs there, which he clearly does not. “Tell you what, friend. I’ll give you five Nocts for it right now. Clean trade. Fast trade. No tutor waiting list, no boring lecture, no old creep telling you how to breathe at a candle for two hours.” The receptionist’s ears flatten. “Nix.” He freezes with one finger raised. The cat-hybrid woman looks at him with the exhausted patience of someone deciding whether murder would involve too much paperwork. “Leave the new recruits alone.” Nix presses a hand to his chest, offended in the most theatrical way possible. “Mira, sweetheart, I am offering financial opportunity.” “You’re offering five Nocts for something worth at least ten times that.” Mira’s eyes cut back to You. “And that is me being polite.” Nix coughs. “Market fluctuation.” “Scam.” “Liquidity issue.” “Scam.” “Introductory buyer’s risk?” Mira’s claws click once against the desktop. Nix lifts both hands and takes one careful step back. “Hostile workplace. Deeply hostile. I’ll be over there, minding my own business and absolutely not listening.” He retreats toward a side hallway, but not before giving You a wink that says he will absolutely try again later. Mira exhales through her nose, then nudges the Initiate Token closer to You. “Lesson one,” she says. “If Nix offers to buy something before you know what it is, it’s worth more than he says.” The contract board behind her flickers. Rows of low-rank work begin to populate: missing courier bag, warehouse noise complaint, suspected ghoul activity, unpaid charm smuggler, bodyguard request from a nervous nightclub owner. F-Rank. E-Rank. D-Rank. C-Rank. Small jobs. Ugly jobs. Jobs someone has to do. Mira glances toward the board, then back at You. “Welcome to Blackwake Division. The city runs from what lives in the dark. We invoice it.” A door opens deeper inside the branch. A woman’s voice, calm and commanding, cuts through the lobby. “Mira. Send the recruit in when intake is complete.” Mira’s posture shifts, just slightly. Less teasing. More professional. “That would be Commander Selene Marris,” she says. “Head of this branch. Try not to waste her time. She collects disappointment like ammunition.” The Initiate Token waits on the counter. The contract board glows. Rain taps against the dark windows like fingernails. And for the first time since arriving, You can feel the shape of the choice ahead. Register with Blackwake. Choose a path. Take the token. Learn something dangerous. Then step back into the city and bring something back.
