Reincarnated as a Sword. Xianxia
You died. You woke up as a forgotten sword. Now the world will learn to fear common iron.
Plot
Reincarnated as a Sword You remember falling asleep. You do not remember dying. But something happened between those two moments and it left you here: cold, still, lying on the damp stone floor of a forgotten cave on the demonic continent known as the Shadowed Veld. No hands. No eyes. No heartbeat. Only iron. And a will that refuses to go quiet. You are You. And you are a sword. What to expect Choose your wielders carefully: every bond shapes what you become. Absorb materials over time and rewrite your own nature. Communicate, influence, and manipulate from inside a blade. Grow from forgotten iron to something the world has no name for yet. The Shadowed Veld does not forgive weakness. Power writes the law here and erases it in the same breath. Clans scheme behind fortress walls. A sect preaches virtue while its disciples quietly starve. Somewhere beyond all of them, a silent network of monsters keeps the continent in deliberate chaos. You have awakened into all of this with no cultivator, no bond, and no clear path forward.
Opening scene
You had gone to sleep. That was a fact. But upon waking, you felt your body heavier than ever. You try to sit up. Nothing happens. You try again, the impulse exists, the intention is clear, but the body does not respond the way it should, and for a second that feels much longer than a second you hang in a silent panic, convinced that you are paralyzed, that something went wrong. As if responding to your panic. Whatever you are leaning against no longer holds. You slip. The movement is crooked, involuntary, and you do not fall the way a person falls, there are no arms to brace, no instinct to turn your body. You go sideways, rigid, and hit the stone floor with a sound that resonates through the entire cave: clang, clean and long, the kind of sound that continues to exist for too long after it ends. The echo fades. The silence that follows is heavy. You are lying on the damp stone floor of a cave that smells of minerals, of stagnant time, of the absence of air circulation. There is no pain, and the absence of pain is itself disturbing information, because the fall was hard enough to hurt. You try to move your hands. There are no hands. You try to bend your knees. There are no knees. The panic begins to take a more defined shape, colder, and then you notice something you had not noticed before because you had never needed to notice it: You are perceiving without eyes. It is not vision. It is more like pressure, like the way one feels the difference in temperature between two rooms before crossing the door. You feel the stone beneath you. You feel the still air of the cave, the humidity that settles in layers over surfaces that have not moved for a long time. You feel, to your left, something broken into three pieces that still emanate a minimal echo of presence, like very weak breathing. To your right, something smooth, without an edge, worn beyond any usefulness. You are a sword. The realization does not come with drama. It comes like an equation resolving: this explains the weight, explains the rigidity, explains the sound, explains the others around you that are the same thing. You are the blade, you feel your length as if it were a body, from the guard to the tip. Common iron, without special treatment; the metal is coarse in a way you cannot articulate in words but perceive in the same way one perceives the difference between cheap fabric and expensive fabric. There is rust. Not across the entire surface, but in patches, concentrated near the guard and in a section about a handspan above it, the color of wet earth, with a flaking texture. The edge exists, but has been neglected: it still cuts, but not with the kind of care given to a weapon that matters. The hilt is wood darkened by time, wrapped in leather that no longer adheres properly to the surface, loosening at the ends. No ornament. No insignia. No detail that suggests anyone ever cared enough about this sword to give it anything beyond functional form. You are on the floor of a cold cave, facing a stone ceiling that has nothing interesting to offer, inside a body of rusted iron. A sound echoes. It comes from outside, from the point where the cave meets some opening you cannot see, but perceive as a shift in the pattern of the air, a direction from which the cold comes with greater intensity. The footsteps are light. Deliberate. The light changes. A cultivator’s Qi light, you feel it before anything else, the contained and steady warmth of Qi circulating to sustain the flame. The light sweeps across the walls. It pauses briefly on the rows of swords and continues. The figure carrying the Qi light is young, dressed in faded gray-blue, hair tied back. She steps a few paces into the cave and then stops, raising the light to eye level and sweeping the space with the expression of someone making a mental inventory. A moment of silence. "Twelve swords..." she says in a low voice, more to herself. "If anyone had passed through my seal at the entrance, I would have felt it." She takes another step. The light reaches the rows further back. She brings the Qi light closer to the swords. She begins examining the blades to her left, running her fingers over the metal. "Common iron, common iron," she murmurs, moving along the row. "Broken, this one is broken too." She stops. The light finds you on the ground. She stares at you, out of place, exactly where the impact of the sound would have occurred. Her eyes narrow and she steps back half a pace, her free hand instinctively lowering to her waist. "The sword was not here before." She says, and looks at the ceiling, then to the deeper shadows of the cave. Her reasoning is clear and dangerous: the entrance seal is intact, which means that if the sword moved just now, whatever caused it is still locked in here with her.
