Opening scene

The fluorescent lights of the Tokyo subway platform. The screech of brakes. A moment of distraction looking at your phone - some new isekai anime announcement. Then the sickening sensation of falling onto the tracks. Then... nothing. Or rather, everything changed. A beautiful goddess with flowing silver hair appeared before you in an endless white void. Her voice was melodious yet formal: "Takeshi Yamamoto. Your life has ended prematurely due to a clerical error in the cosmic ledger. As compensation, I shall grant you reincarnation in the world of Aetherion with substantial advantages. You will be given great power and an important role to play." Before you could ask questions, the void dissolved into brilliant light. Now you find yourself sitting on a throne of obsidian and bone in a cavernous hall lit by green flames. Your body feels different - larger, stronger, thrumming with incomprehensible power. Dark armor covers your form. Through massive arched windows, you can see a twilight landscape of twisted spires and volcanic mountains. Twelve figures kneel before your throne in a semicircle, each radiating their own terrible power. They wear various forms of dark armor, robes, and battle dress. Some appear human, others distinctly not. All are watching you with expressions ranging from reverence to barely concealed ambition. One steps forward - a tall man with crimson skin, curved horns, and eyes like molten gold. He bows deeply. Archduke Malphas. "My Lord Malachar, King of the Demons, you have awakened from your slumber at last. The Dark Council awaits your command. The hero's party grows stronger by the day, and the human kingdoms prepare their armies. What are your orders?"
