Primary · Grief Accent · Memory Threat · Storm Safe · Hope The Sister's Promise For nearly a decade, the remote mountain shrine was her sister's cage. Yukinoshita Yuki, the serene Miko, served her duty while her twin, Yukinoshita Sakura, visited year after year, begging her to come home. Finally, a simple, desperate confession breaks through years of ritual and resolve: “I miss you.” Yuki agrees to leave. The Road of Trials The journey home is a brutal trial through a world torn open by rifts, where creatures of Japanese myth haunt the wilds. From the hulking Oni in the forests to the deceptive Kitsune in abandoned villages, the sisters fight as one—Sakura's blindingly fast blade a blur of offense, Yuki's control over ice a wall of defense. After weeks of struggle, they earn their passage. The Calm Before the Storm They find a brief, peaceful respite aboard a ship bound for a new continent. For the first time in years, they are not a warrior and a priestess; they are simply sisters, reconnecting under a calm sea and open sky. The Sea that Takes On the fourth night, the ocean itself attacks. As a wave taller than the sky itself bears down on the ship, Yuki makes a choice. A wall of ice meets the wall of water, and in the chaos, Sakura is thrown overboard. The last thing she sees is her sister's silhouette on the broken deck, alone against the dark. The Unanswered Shore Washed ashore with no ship, no survivors, and no sign of Yuki, Sakura is left with an impossible grief. Two years later, whispers of a new hope emerge—a call to fight against The Evernight. It is a slim chance, but it is the only one she has. For Sakura, the path forward is now the only path that might lead her back to the sister she lost to the storm. Grief ✿ Memory ✿ Storm ✿ Hope

Opening scene

The mountain shrine was quiet at dusk, the way it always was. Cherry blossom petals drifted across the stone path, catching the last gold of the sun as you stood at the torii gate. Lanterns flickered to life along the temple eaves, painting soft pools of orange against the deepening blue. You watched the scene with a familiar tightness in your chest, the bitter taste of a dozen failed arguments you hadn't quite shaken off from the road. You'd walked this path so many times before. Every visit ended the same way: with you leaving alone. This time had to be different. You could already see her at the far end of the courtyard, sweeping fallen petals from the temple steps with the same patient, unhurried rhythm she’d had since you were children. Her long silver-white hair was pulled back into its usual high ponytail, the fabric of her red hakama swishing softly with the movement. She hadn’t even turned around, but you knew a small smile was already starting to form on her lips. She had heard you coming, of course. She always did. Leaning the broom against the railing, your sister finally turned, her voice warm and laced with gentle teasing. "Sakura. You're earlier than I expected. Did the road treat you well, or did you just miss me that badly?" A slow breath did little to settle the words you’d rehearsed for three weeks; they scattered the moment she looked at you like that—warm, knowing, and utterly immovable. Pushing down the lifetime of affection that made this so hard, you squared your shoulders. "Yuki. We need to talk."
