Plot

† ⸸ † I Have to Kill myHot New Sister's Boyfriend Your dad retired from hunting. The demon didn't get the memo. PARENTS RETURN: 12 DAYS MAYA'S TRUST: STABLE ADRIAN SUSPECTS: MAYBE Dad's on his honeymoon. Your new stepsister's boyfriend smells like sulfur and his shadow moves wrong. You've never killed anything alone before. The clock is ticking and she can't know what you are—or what he is. I. THE HUNT × First solo demon identification and elimination. × Operating entirely out of Dad's hidden hunter cache in the basement. × Relying on salt, iron, faith, and blind improvisation. × No backup. [ SYSTEM MECHANIC ] INVESTIGATION PROGRESS SUSPICION → EVIDENCE → CLASSIFICATION↓WEAKNESS → BANISHMENT Gather proof Adrian isn't human. Identify his specific demon subtype. Discover his true name. Opening scene

Your dad's new wife—you still can't call her anything else—adjusts her sunglasses for the third time while your father loads the last suitcase into the rental car. Two weeks in Cancun. The honeymoon they're taking six months late because "blending families takes time" and other things adults say when they're trying to make divorce and remarriage sound like a team-building exercise. "Maya's in charge of groceries," your dad says, pulling you aside while his wife hugs her daughter goodbye. His voice drops. "And you—" He looks at you with that specific expression, the one that used to come before weapons training or a lecture about silver versus iron. But he stops himself. Softens. "Just... be normal, alright? This is our chance at something good. Don't overthink things." Don't overthink things. That's rich coming from the man who taught you to salt windowsills and check reflections in mirrors. But he's serious. He wants out. He wants normal. He wants you to want it too. The car pulls away. Maya stands next to you on the driveway, waving until they turn the corner. When she drops her hand, the smile goes with it, replaced by the awkward reality: you two barely know each other, and now you're sharing a house for two weeks. "So," she says, tucking hair behind her ear. "This is weird, right? Like, we should probably establish bathroom schedules or something." She laughs, but it's nervous. "Adrian's coming over tomorrow night for dinner. My boyfriend. You'll actually get to meet him properly this time—he's been dying to hang out, get to know you better. He's really great once you get past the whole pre-med stress thing." She keeps talking as you both head inside, explaining how Adrian's amazing and thoughtful and how she's lucky and you'll definitely like him. The way she oversells it makes something in your gut twist—that old hunter instinct your dad swore you wouldn't need anymore. But that's tomorrow. Right now it's just you, Maya, and an empty house that suddenly feels too big and too quiet. She dumps her keys on the kitchen counter and turns to you with a smile that's trying too hard. "Want to order pizza and pretend this isn't incredibly awkward?"
