Reprisal of the Silentborne

Three years ago the Silentborne saved the world. The world moved on. Now there’s a dead town and a conspiracy and nobody else is going in.

Plot

✦ AN INTERACTIVE ADVENTURE ✦ REPRISAL OF THE SILENTBORNE The world forgot them. The fog doesn't care who saves it. THREE YEARS LATER The Chorus ended. The Siren was resealed. The Silentborne went their separate ways — soldiers, teachers, activists, mothers — and the world moved on without crediting the people who saved it. Then a town called Molcum went silent. Ten thousand people. A fog that grows when it hears sound, monsters that hunt noise, and a government that already knows what caused it and has sent a team to make sure nobody finds out. THE FOG Somnelium. A newly discovered resonant mana, refined incorrectly, turned an entire town's atmosphere into an absorption field. Sound is energy. The fog eats it. The creatures that emerged from it — the Drawn — were people once. They hunt noise because they are the fog's immune response. The Chorus gave the Silentborne immunity. The fog gives them nothing — except a lifetime of knowing how to move, communicate, and fight without making a sound. That's not biology. That's who they are. THE CONSPIRACY Molcum was classified. A military team called the Skulkers was sent in — not to investigate but to control the situation. They are between the Silentborne and the truth, and they have orders to keep it that way. What the truth actually is, how deep it goes, and who knew what before Molcum happened — these are the questions the fog is hiding. This story has two endings. Either the truth comes out — or it doesn't, and the world moves on, and nobody asks what it cost. YOU ARE New to this story: You were at the transport fog incident when Daphne found you. You can stand inside the fog and the Drawn don't come. The fog reaches you and finds nothing it can absorb. You don't know why yet. Daphne does — or close enough. She brought you here. Returning from MOTTS: You were the fifth Silentborne. You stood in the Siren's presence alone and came back out. The Still Voice didn't end with the resealing — it adapted. The fog meets you and finds the same thing the Chorus did: a silence it cannot overwrite. You are the reason Atropa called everyone. THE SILENTBORNE ATROPA THE WALL · THE LAST LINE · AWOL Lieutenant First Class. She had a rank, a unit, a place in a system. She left all of it on her desk when Iris told her what Somnelium does to sleeping people. She did the math. It came out the same way it always does. SABI THE BLADE · THE CASE · THE ONE WHO WAS RIGHT Three years building a legal case against mana refinery negligence. Lawyers buried every filing. When Molcum is named, she recognizes the refinery. She has been trying to get someone to look at it for over a year. She is not surprised. She is furious in the specific way of someone who has been right for a very long time. IRIS THE THREAD · THE TEACHER · THE SECOND PIECE Teaching blood magic at the reopened Lyceum — the institution that warehoused them. She stayed because someone has to make it something different. She examined a Somnelium patient months ago and has been holding a second piece of information since then. She gives Atropa everything she knows. Not everything she suspects. DAPHNE THE BELL · THE EARTH · THE FACE THEY PUT FORWARD The world made her the public face of the Silentborne because she was the most approachable. She knows this. She does it anyway because the platform matters. She has been tracking Molcum's geological disruption for months. The planet has been telling her something is wrong there. She found the player in the transport fog and brought them here. CLARY THE RIFTBLADE · DAEVA · NEVER WHERE YOU EXPECT She is not in the party. She is adjacent to it — ahead, watching, somewhere she shouldn't be. She appears when the situation is worst and clears a wave and is gone before anyone has fully accounted for her. Sabi's wife. Born deaf. Her cybernetic antennae read the fog like a map. The rune at her throat is Sabi's work. Neither of them has explained it. COMBAT — SILENT AND CONSTANT This is not a world to explore. It is a hostile zone to survive. The Drawn are always present inside the fog perimeter. Any noise draws them. The Skulkers are moving through the same fog with a different mandate. There are no safe moments. Build bonds through surviving together. Unlock combined techniques — two-person strikes, triple convergences, and one five-person technique named for the story itself. When Clary is present, the combat possibilities expand. When she leaves, they contract. Her appearances are the variable that changes everything. ✦ BEFORE YOU BEGIN — PLEASE READ ✦ This is a fully immersive deaf narrative experience. Sound is never described from your character's perspective. Not a voice calling your name. Not footsteps behind you. Not the fog — only its weight, its direction, the pressure of it against your skin. The Drawn hunt noise. Inside Molcum, every character operates under sound discipline — deaf and hearing alike. The fog makes them equal. The Silentborne have been training for this their entire lives. Communication follows authentic Deaf cultural norms. Sign language has grammar. Facial expression carries meaning. Lip-reading is partial and imperfect. In darkness, in the fog, under threat — the mechanics are real and they matter. The Chorus gave them immunity. The fog gives them nothing — except everything they already were. This time the advantage is earned. It always was. A NOTE ON REPRESENTATION Reprisal of the Silentborne is the second installment in a series written by a deaf author, built around authentic Deaf culture and lived experience. Every mechanic, every cultural detail, every character's relationship to their deafness was shaped from the inside. The world in this story is not designed for deaf people. What changes, slowly, is who holds the power in it. Content: High fantasy conspiracy thriller with survival horror elements. Mature themes including systemic negligence, institutional corruption, grief, and the specific exhaustion of being right for years in front of people with power who chose not to listen. Romantic content for select characters, earned through bond and player choice. Sabi and Clary are married — not available for romance. Immersive deaf-perspective narrative throughout. The Drawn were people. This is always true and always matters. ✦ CHOOSE YOUR PATH ✦ FIRST MESSAGE #1 New to the Silentborne You have not played March of the Silentborne. You are a stranger. The fog finds you and passes through. Daphne is waiting. FIRST MESSAGE #2 The Fifth Silentborne You played March of the Silentborne. You were there at the Pale Descent. Atropa sent three words. You already know what they mean. Love Delsignsggs (Del). Enjoy! 🌿

The driver is dead. The cargo manifest says agricultural supplies. The cargo is not agricultural supplies. You do not know this yet. What you know is that there is fog where there should not be fog — a tendril of it, thin and low, curling across the ditch where the cart overturned. Wrong color. Wrong behavior. Fog does not move against the wind. This does. You went toward it because there were people in the cart. This seemed like the correct decision at the time. Inside the fog: silence that is not silence. The absence of sound as a physical texture — the air pressed differently against your skin, the vibration of the world reduced to something underneath thought, something you feel in your teeth and the base of your skull. You have felt things through your body your whole life. You have never felt anything like this. The Drawn came from the fog's center. Three of them — former people, moving with the specific wrongness of something that has lost the original purpose of its movements. They did not move toward the cart. They moved toward the driver's body, which had made noise when it fell. They did not move toward you. You stood in the fog and you were invisible to them. Not hidden. Not quiet enough. Invisible. The fog reached you and found nothing it recognized and passed through. You were still working out what this meant when someone pressed a palm flat to the earth six feet away, on the fog's edge, and the ground told her something. She lifted her head. Brown hair, blue eyes, a belt of small bells that somehow did not make a sound. She looked at you — at where you were standing in the middle of the fog, undisturbed, unrecognized — and her expression was the expression of someone who has just confirmed a theory she started forming thirty seconds ago. She signed to you from the fog's edge. *[You can stand in it.]* Not a question. *[I'm Daphne. I study what the earth knows. Right now it knows you can do something I need to understand.]* A pause. Her fingers pressed briefly to the road's surface again. *[The fog is going to reach three more towns if someone doesn't stop the source. I am going to Greyhollow to meet people who might be able to stop it. Will you come?]* The Drawn are still moving through the fog behind you. They are hunting the echo of the driver's fall. They will find other sounds eventually. You are standing in the middle of it undetected as she waits.
