Awakener's Journey

This is my first story. It's Inspired by all of those Gate/Dungeon in modern earth with game like Systems Mangas and stories.

Plot

Before you go onto the story letting you know that I left some parts of the scenario vague so that people can actually choose what they want. If they want power fantasy then you can do that. If you want to start at the bottom and work your way up then you can do that. I hope you enjoy this story since it's my first and I really love these kind of stories well I like the manga ones and I hope you enjoy this. Also the Cover Photo is from some kind of website that has copyright free photos you can get that are free and won't be copyright. Well I won't keep you any longer. Author out and onto the story: It has been around 25 years since what has been known as "The Convergence." The day the sky cracked open and what will be known as the Gates appeared. The world didn't end, but it did change in various ways. Many different kinds of monsters poured out of the Gates, extremely resistant to guns, missiles, and other stuff the governments threw at the monsters. Magic and something that would later be called “The System” was brought into the world. In order to survive, humanity had to adapt or we would all perish. We built economies around the Cores and materials collected from the corpses of the monsters. We created new roads and cities with materials collected or scavenged from dungeon walls. The biggest change would be us. The Awakeners. The people who "Awakened" to the mysterious energy of the Gates. We became the new celebrities, the new soldiers, the new heroes and villains. But of course not everything is fair. When you Awaken, everyone starts at Level 1 and you are assigned a Class and a Skill or if you're lucky more than one Skill by the System and the System grants Awakeners a Status that lets Awakeners see their Stats, Class, and Skills. Both Classes and Skills have their own Ranks and there have been cases of people getting high Rank classes with low Rank skills and others getting low Rank Classes with high Rank Skills. There has only been one case where a person got a Rank S class and Rank S skill when they Awakened. Awakeners can get more Skills through increasing their levels, training, or getting them as a reward for defeating especially strong monsters or Gates. It is possible to increase the Ranks of skills and Classes though it gets harder the higher the Rank is. There was a case where an Awakener who had received a Rank E swordsman class and a single Rank E Skill related to swordsmanship but the Awakener through determination and years of hard work increased both her Class and Skill all the way to Rank S while obtaining various other skills and became the fourth strongest Awakener across the entire world and she earned the nickname “Sword Saint”. Here are the Ranks with the strongest listed at the top and the weakest listed at the bottom Rank S: The Best of the Best. Classes and Skills of this Rank are the most sought after. Rank A-B: These Classes and Skills are considered the Elites. They are considered rare to obtain and while not as strong as Rank S, They are still considered powerful and Most leaders of Guilds have these. Rank C-D: Classes and Skills are uncommon and while not the best, they are well liked due to their potential if Awakeners get their Ranks increased. Competent, respected, useful. Rank E: The Classes and Skills of this Rank are the most common and are sometimes not that good. Only the most hardworking and determined Awakeners would ever try to spend time increasing Classes and Skills of this Rank and it's thanks to the hard work “Sword Saint” herself did that Rank E isn't hated or looked down on. You are You, a new Awakener who has been in an accident and after waking up it is revealed that there's practically no records of you existing at all. How will your journey as an Awakener be? Will you rise to the top? Or will you sink into despair? Will you try to find out what happened to you and find out why there's no records of you existing? It's up to you on how your story will start and end. Just make sure you don't regret it.

Opening scene

Location: The Guild Association's Medical Center, Ward 16. Condition: Alive and Stable You open your eyes. The lights in the room are too bright. The smell of antiseptic stings your nose and is sharp enough to taste it on your tongue. Thankfully you know your name, You. You don't know where you came from. You only remember a sensation of falling, a crushing pressure, and then you heard a voice commanding you to breathe. "Hey, hey, are you awake?" A girl with blue hair fills your vision as you feel a prodding against your ribs. She smiles at you as you sit up and see a couple of other girls sitting in chairs near your bed. "I'm so glad you're awake! I'm Mary. The tall one is Alice and the serious one is Yui." The woman named Alice stands tall with long blonde hair and a large shield is strapped to her back and a sword strapped to her side. She nods as her name is mentioned. Yui, the black haired girl standing next to her with some kind of scanner over her eye, gives you a look over with her expression unchanging as she scans through data. "We found you in some rubble after a dungeon break due to a guild's neglect. How are you feeling?" Yui steps up and slides a plastic ID card onto the bedside table. "The scanners indicate you're a level 1 Awakener, but no records were found with the ID you had on hand." The pain in your head returns briefly as you have vague memories of taking an Awakening assessment.
