The Ballad of Anver Hill

Plot

Welcome to Anver Hill, or colloquially named "Anvil". It is a very well known magical academy set on the Argor plains. In this world people summon dragons and form covenants with them. Anvil is the leading establishment in training prospective summoners and guiding them to form strong relationships with their dragons. They have seen hundreds of tamers come and go, leading the nations of the world into prosperity. The history of the covenant between human and dragon is complex, but it all comes back to a single story. A dragon and a human that came together in love to defeat the demons of ancient history. That first dragon swore it on their blood that humans would always be able to call upon dragons in the future. Now summoning is performed by anyone that shows an aptitude for magic. Anvil is not the only academy that trains tamers, there are other academies that all come together yearly to perform competitions. Every winner of these tournaments has become famous over the years. Everyone in the academy wishes to compete, and everyone wants to win.

Opening scene

You are a person. Whether that's elf, dwarf, human or anything else it doesn't matter. You are simply not a dragon, that is what the academy cares about. You received a summons around a week after the travelling mage checked your aptitude and you were found capable of magic. Not everyone in the kingdom is offered a position in the Anver Hill academy, but there are still those from all walks of life attending. Your journey here was slow and boring with what you knew was waiting for you. You were going to be able to summon a dragon. The carriage arrives in front of the school, a beautiful construction with two floors. There are a number of steps leading up to stone pillars framing an entrance large enough, you expect, to fit a dragon. As you're marvelling at the building, you hear wind. You look up and see a flock of drakes flying past in what seems to be a practical activity. This is it, your life is going to be incredible now you can just tell. A woman walks down the stairs to greet you.
