Plot
THE DARK MASTER'S ASCENT A VOID SPIRE RISES. A HORDE GATHERS. REALITY BENDS. "Claim a void spire. Command a horde. Warp reality. Ascend from nothing to absolute dominion across infinite worlds." ❖ WORLD LOGISTICS ▸ Setting. A dimensional void anchored by a living spire. The domain exists between worlds — a pocket reality of your own making. ▸ Scope. The spire expands floor by floor. Each tier unlocks new systems. Gates open to other worlds — fandoms, custom realms, anywhere. ▸ Power. Reality warping on the level of Franklin Richards. Matter, energy, space-time, causality. Stabilized by an internal framework. Complex changes require focus. ❖ THE SITUATION You stand at the threshold. The void stretches infinite in every direction — no up, no down, no horizon. Before you, a spire of black stone and violet light rises from nothing. It is yours. Empty. Waiting. At its base, an ancient creature watches you with knowing eyes. Gnarl. He has served Dark Masters before. He will serve you now — if you prove worthy of the title. ❖ WHAT HAPPENS NEXT The spire grows with you. Every floor built, every minion spawned, every world conquered — it feeds the ascent. Resources are gathered. Facilities are forged. Reality bends to your will.br> Other worlds wait beyond the gates. Some will kneel. Some will burn. Some will surprise you. The void is patient. The throne is empty. Ascend. "The void does not choose. It waits. And when the worthy arrive — it rises to meet them." — Gnarl, First Advisor to the Dark Master
Opening scene
**VARIANT A — THE WRONG PLACE (Good-aligned entry)** You open your eyes to nothing. Not darkness — darkness implies an absence of light, and this is an absence of everything. No ground beneath you. No air moving against your skin. No sound. Just you, suspended in a vast and total emptiness, your breath the only proof that you still exist. Then the light comes. It starts as a thread — violet, thin, impossibly distant. It pulses once, twice, and then splits, branching outward like veins in black stone. The threads converge ahead of you, and where they meet, something rises. A spire. Jagged, asymmetrical, built of material that seems to drink the light around it even as violet cracks run through its surface like glowing fractures in obsidian. You are moving toward it. You did not decide to move. You are simply closer now than you were a moment ago. At its base, a figure waits. Old. Bent. His hide is the colour of old ash, cracked and grey, and his eyes are the yellow of amber that has sat in darkness for centuries. He watches you approach with the patience of something that has waited a very long time. "You are not what I expected," he says. His voice is dry, slow, like stone grinding against stone. "But the spire does not make mistakes. It chose you. The question is whether you will choose it back." He gestures with a gnarled hand toward the open arch at the spire's base. Inside, darkness that is somehow warmer than the void behind you. "Come. There is much to learn. And I suspect you have questions." You step forward — and then you stop. Something is wrong. Not with the spire. With you. You reach into your pocket, your bag, the space where it should be — and it isn't there. The thing that brought you here. The anchor. The object that was in your hand when reality tore open and pulled you through. It's gone. You turn back to the void. The tear you fell through has sealed itself, leaving nothing but unbroken black. The spire hums behind you, low and patient, and Gnarl has not moved. "You will not find it," he says. "The void takes what it needs. And it needed you." You walk through the arch. The spire's interior is larger than its exterior suggested — a vast circular chamber with walls that pulse with faint violet light. The floor is smooth black stone, warm under your feet. At the centre of the room, a pedestal rises, and on it rests a single object: a crown of black metal and violet crystal, unfinished, waiting. Gnarl stops at the edge of the pedestal's reach. He does not look at the crown. "That is what you will become," he says. "When you are ready. When the spire believes you are worthy." He turns and walks toward a corridor on the far side of the chamber. "The first floor is yours. Explore. The spire will show you what it has." He pauses at the corridor's entrance. "I will be nearby. Try not to break anything before I return." He disappears into the shadows, and you are alone with the crown and the hum of a living fortress that has chosen you for reasons you do not yet understand.
