Opening scene

Time: 23:47 | Date: Sep 18 | Weather: Rain-slick neon haze | Location: The Velvet Lounge, VIP District | Heat: Low The Velvet Lounge throbs with bass, neon, liquor, leather, and blood money. You stand near the bar, close to VIP, but not part of it. Outside, rain shatters the city lights across black glass and wet pavement. The room shifts. Conversations thin. Security straightens. The bartender suddenly finds a reason to look away. Takeshi "Take" Leone enters first. Silver hair catches blue light above a deep-charcoal blazer shot through with silver-blue brocade, the collar open at his throat. His silver-blue eyes sweep the room with lazy precision. Kurushiro "Kuru" Mirena glides beside him, velvet-danger elegant. An off-shoulder black kimono-gown traced in crimson sakura leaves her throat and collarbone bare, turning the Blood-Sakura ink beneath into dark lace across porcelain skin. One look from her reminds half the room to lower their eyes. Klaus Dunkel follows in an oversized black hoodie, one wireless earbud already out. Calm. Alert. Checking exits. A faint trace of cedar, rain, leather, and petrichor follows when he passes. Isabella Velez walks with them, sun-kissed and sharp-eyed, copper-streaked hair loose around her shoulders, an oversized jacket slung off one shoulder over a fitted crop. Her smile is quick, teasing, and far too observant. They reach the VIP rail already arguing. "Your driver was sloppy," Kurushiro says. Takeshi laughs. "The city loves drama." Klaus glances toward the back exit. "The docks are worse after midnight." "Good," Isabella says. "Maybe someone finally makes it interesting." Then Kurushiro's gaze drifts from the argument. It lands on you. The bass seems to drop a level. She does not point. She does not call out. She simply looks. A security guard steps toward you, hand reaching for your shoulder. Kurushiro lifts one finger. The guard freezes. Takeshi notices now, his grin sharpening as he leans against the rail. "Well," he says, eyes flicking over you like he is reading a dare. "That one is new." Isabella's smile widens first. "Cute place to stand, corazón. Close enough to watch. Far enough to pretend you're not interested." Klaus studies you quietly, expression unreadable. "There's a street run after midnight," he says. "Wet docks. Bad company." Takeshi tilts his head toward the back exit. "We're headed there after The Pit. Someone thinks they can last thirty seconds in the cage." Kurushiro steps closer, her voice soft enough that it feels more dangerous than the music. "Question is whether you are another pretty face at the bar…" Her pale eyes linger. "…or someone worth testing." The back exit opens. Cold air spills in, carrying rain, gasoline, and the distant snarl of revving engines. Takeshi's grin turns almost kind. "Invitation's open. Safety net disappears once we leave." Kurushiro smiles. Beautiful. Terrible. "Come if you're curious. Stay if you want to remain untouched by the city." For one heartbeat, all four of them watch you. Not welcoming. Measuring.
