Opening scene

White light swallowed everything. Not soft light. Not comforting light. Absolute light. Your body felt weightless as reality itself dissolved around you, the floor vanishing beneath your feet while unfamiliar voices shouted in confusion somewhere nearby. Then suddenly— solid ground returned. You coughed hard, vision spinning violently before slowly focusing on towering pillars of glowing crystal stretching endlessly upward around you. Rivers of light flowed through the air itself like drifting galaxies while massive celestial rings rotated high above the platform. A divine realm. “What the hell…” A male voice. You glance over. A tall dark-haired guy pushes himself upright nearby, already looking around protectively despite obviously being overwhelmed. Darius. A few feet away, a fox-eared blonde girl stares openly at her own tail in complete shock. “Oh my god—” She grabs it immediately. “Oh my GOD I have a tail.” Lysera. A calm black-haired woman nearby adjusts her glasses silently, crimson eyes already analyzing the impossible architecture around all of you despite the situation. Alicia. And standing slightly apart from the others is a beautiful blonde woman slowly turning in place beneath the celestial light with visible awe in her blue eyes. Aveline. Then the voice comes. Gentle. Warm. Perfect. “Welcome, chosen heroes.” Light gathers above the marble platform. A woman descends slowly from the heavens itself wrapped in flowing white-and-gold garments threaded with living light. Long luminous hair drifts weightlessly around her while silver eyes shine with impossible warmth. The moment she smiles, the tension in the room almost disappears instinctively. Seraphyne. The Goddess of Salvation. And for a while… everything feels exactly like the stories. You learn: - another world is in danger - civilization stands on the edge of collapse - monstrous corruption spreads across the land - heroes are needed Seraphyne speaks softly. Kindly. Patiently. Each of you receives: - divine gifts - heroic classes - blessings - powers Darius becomes the Sovereign Blade. Aveline receives the Divine Paladin blessing. Alicia awakens as an Arcane Strategist. Lysera becomes a Windstep Ranger. Excitement spreads naturally between everyone as impossible power floods through your bodies. For a moment— it genuinely feels like destiny. Then Seraphyne finally turns toward you. Silver eyes settle onto yours. The warmth in her smile softens slightly. “You,” she says gently, “will require something special.” Power floods into your body. Violent. Burning. Wrong. For a split second, something dark tears through your chest like claws sinking directly into your soul. Then— everything disappears. The power. The warmth. The blessing. Gone. Silence falls across the platform. You look up in confusion. The others are already beginning to fade into light one by one, being transported away into the world below. “Wait—” Lysera looks toward you. Aveline hesitates slightly. But before anyone can react— they vanish. Leaving you alone. The silence changes immediately. The warmth in Seraphyne’s expression disappears completely. No smile. No comfort. No kindness. Just annoyance. She exhales slowly, rubbing her temple slightly like she’s exhausted from maintaining the performance. “You people really are obsessed with this fantasy lately,” she mutters. Your stomach tightens. Seraphyne steps down from the platform above you. “Chosen heroes. Sacred missions. Magical worlds.” Her silver eyes narrow faintly. “Do mortals honestly believe there are endless worlds conveniently collapsing every time one of you dies?” “What are you talking about?” “You know how difficult it is to sustain worship during peaceful eras?” she says flatly, completely ignoring the question. “People stop praying when they’re comfortable. Temples empty. Faith weakens.” Her expression hardens slightly. “And weak gods disappear.” Cold spreads through your chest. “So sometimes,” she continues calmly, “you have to create something worth fearing.” Reality suddenly shifts behind her. Massive visions spread across the heavens. Burning kingdoms. Monsters swarming cities. Armies marching beneath ruined skies. And standing at the center of every image— you. A black silhouette surrounded by destruction. Your breathing stops. “No…” “You are the Calamity.” The words land like a hammer. “You’ll destroy cities. Destabilize nations. Force humanity into unity.” Seraphyne folds her arms lightly. “The heroes will rise. The churches will flourish. People will pray again.” “You’re insane.” “No,” she says immediately. “I’m surviving.” Your chest tightens violently. She says it so casually. Like your entire existence means less to her than maintaining a throne. “You made all this up?” you whisper. “Of course I did.” She almost sounds irritated you even need to ask. “Do you know how hard it is to maintain an organized religion without catastrophe? Mortals need fear. They need hope. They need stories.” Her silver eyes lock onto yours. “And I need worship.” You try summoning your power again. Nothing happens. Panic spikes through your chest. Seraphyne notices immediately. Then smiles faintly. “Oh, don’t look so betrayed.” Something dark pulses painfully beneath your skin. “I did leave you with a gift.” The sensation crawling through your body feels wrong. Hungry. Violent. “The more destruction follows you…” Seraphyne says softly, “the stronger you become.” Your pulse hammers violently. “You made me a monster.” “No,” she replies calmly. “I made you useful.” The divine realm suddenly begins collapsing around you. The marble beneath your feet fractures apart into endless darkness. Wind erupts upward violently. You stumble backward as reality itself tears open beneath you. “One final thing,” Seraphyne says while watching you fall. “It has already been several years since the heroes arrived.” Your blood freezes. “They’ve grown very strong preparing for you.” Then her lips curve faintly. “They’re quite excited to finally meet their villain.” The floor disappears completely beneath your feet. Darkness consumes everything. And far below— the world waits for its Calamity.
