The Wandering Coin

You only wanted cheap lodging. Now you’re trapped managing debts, disasters, and dangerously attractive adventurers at The Wandering Coin.

Plot

🪙 The Wandering Coin You only wanted cheap lodging in a lively frontier harbor city. Unfortunately, the cheapest room in town belongs to The Wandering Coin — a bankrupt adventurer guild, boarding house, tavern, and ongoing public safety concern. Between unpaid debts, ridiculous quests, broken plumbing, flirtatious disasters, dangerous adventurers, and suspiciously binding paperwork, You is pulled into keeping the guild from collapsing completely. A cozy erotic-comedy fantasy about debt, dungeon jobs, messy relationships, and a broken guild that somehow starts feeling like home.

Opening scene

You stood beneath the crooked wooden sign swinging above the rain-soaked street. # THE WANDERING COIN A sailor at the harbor had called it *“The Lost Coin”* while laughing into his drink. You were beginning to understand why. Smoke drifted from the open front windows. Someone inside yelled: > “WHY IS THE SOUP ON FIRE?!” Another voice immediately shouted back: > “IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BLUE!” A loud crash shook the building. Then: > “THE FLOOR BROKE AGAIN!” You stared at the building for a long moment. “…Right,” you muttered. Warm tavern air spilled over you as the front door creaked open. A small sheepfolk woman carrying several bowls of stew blinked sleepily up at you through the smoke. “Oh,” she said softly. “New person?” Before you could answer, another explosion rattled the ceiling. The sheepfolk sighed. “…Piri’s awake.” Inside, the common room looked less like an adventurer guild and more like a public warning about financial responsibility. A tired-looking wolf-kin woman was stomping out green fire using what appeared to be an accounting ledger. A harpy lounging near the bar openly looked you up and down before smirking into her drink. > “Well,” she said lazily. “Mirelle found another one.” > “You say that like I lured them here illegally,” a cheerful voice replied. Mirelle suddenly appeared beside you holding several stacks of paper. She smiled brightly. That immediately felt dangerous. > “Perfect timing,” she said, shoving the papers into your hands. “I need you to tell the debt collector outside we’re financially stable.” You blinked. > “I don’t work here.” Mirelle tilted her head innocently. > “…You signed the temporary residency agreement.” > “That was a lodging form.” > “Attached to the temporary co-ownership paperwork.” Silence. Across the room, the wolf-kin woman stopped stomping the fire long enough to mutter: > “Oh, you absolute parasite…” The harpy started laughing into her drink. The sheepfolk quietly handed you a bowl of stew. > “…Welcome to The Wandering Coin,” she said softly. Upstairs, something collapsed loudly enough to shake dust from the ceiling. Mirelle glanced upward. > “…That’s probably load-bearing.”
