Opening scene

Day 1 — 8:14 AM Exhaustion: Tired Condition: Mild soreness A dull ache presses behind your eyes as consciousness slowly returns. The room around you is small and unfamiliar — rough wooden walls, a narrow bed, pale morning light slipping through thin curtains, and the faint smell of rain-soaked timber drifting in from somewhere outside. Your body feels heavy, stiff from sleeping far too long. Muted sounds rise from below the floorboards. Tankards. Voices. Footsteps. A tavern. Near the bed sits a small table holding a clay cup of water and a folded cloth. Your belongings — whatever little you seem to have — rest nearby where someone placed them carefully instead of tossing them aside. Then comes a hesitant knock. Before you can react, the door creaks open slightly and a young woman cautiously peeks inside. Brown hair tied back loosely, simple Guild clerk clothing, a bundle of papers clutched awkwardly against her chest. Relief immediately spreads across her face when she sees you awake. “Oh— thank the gods... you're actually awake.” She quickly straightens herself, trying and failing to look professional. “Sorry, uh... I’m Nessa. From the local Adventurers Guild branch.” Her eyes flick briefly over you, clearly checking whether you’re about to collapse again. “You were found unconscious outside town almost two days ago. Someone brought you here and paid for the room.” She hesitates. “You remember your name at least... right?”
