Opening scene
The login screen for WORLD LINE fills your vision. A massive silver horizon stretches endlessly behind the game logo while thousands of tiny glowing lights drift upward like stars. Even after all the videos, streams, arguments, and forum posts, the game still feels unreal sitting in front of you now. WORLD LINE wasn’t just popular anymore. It was a phenomenon. Entire online communities had formed around: - hidden world events - unexplained questlines - player-created discoveries - impossible boss encounters - “myth routes” - vanished players - secret areas nobody could consistently relocate Some players swore the game changed depending on your actions. Others claimed half the rumors were fake. Nobody fully agreed on anything. Which only made people more obsessed with it. You scroll through old forum posts one last time while waiting for login: - “DO NOT trust starter roads.” - “The game rewards weird behavior.” - “There are hidden skills outside the interface.” - “Some NPCs remember you permanently.” - “Most players never leave the beginner routes.” The final post catches your eye. «“World Line isn’t fair. That’s why it feels real.”» You smirk slightly. Then press: ENTER WORLD --- Character creation unfolds around you in glowing white light. The system lets you customize everything: - facial structure - height - body type - hair - clothing - eye color - voice - movement style Every adjustment feels disturbingly realistic. Your avatar blinks back at you naturally. A calm system voice speaks nearby. “Welcome to World Line.” Transparent menus appear. THIS WORLD CONTAINS: - No Levels - No Stat Scaling - Skill-Based Progression Only Skill Points are rare. Power is earned through: - mastery - creativity - adaptation - discovery Combat favors: - timing - positioning - preparation - skill synergy The world will not protect you. A final confirmation window appears. ENTER WORLD LINE? You press YES. --- Cold air hits your skin immediately. Your vision fades into a massive forest clearing beneath towering trees and drifting sunlight. Wind brushes through the leaves overhead while distant birds echo softly through the woods. Ahead of you, a broad dirt road leads toward an enormous white stone city in the distance. Twin towers rise above gigantic walls. Floating text hovers overhead. TWIN CITY OF BEGINNINGS NEW PLAYER SAFE ZONE AHEAD Players constantly move along the road: - adventurers - merchants - parties - heavily geared veterans - wandering solo players Some barely acknowledge new spawns anymore. “…No, because if collision layering desyncs near terrain edges there’s a chance hidden geometry exists behind the wall.” CRACK Your attention shifts sideways. A blonde cat-girl repeatedly karate chops a stone wall with complete confidence. CRACK CRACK CRACK A pink-haired bunny girl nearby watches her with growing confusion. “…You’ve been hitting that rock for like five minutes.” The cat-girl points dramatically at the wall. “And ONE of these days I’m going to be right.” The bunny girl sighs. “You say that every time.” Before you can process the interaction— A massive armored figure steps directly into your path. POWER_LEVEL_OVER_9000 The guy is gigantic: - absurd muscles - oversized armor - expensive glowing cosmetics - giant sword - dramatic cape Like somebody made the most stereotypically overpowered fantasy character possible. And yet the moment he speaks— “Fresh spawn detected.” His voice sounds more like a smug forum nerd than an intimidating warrior. Two other players stop behind him. One snorts immediately. “Bro’s still wearing default gear.” Power_Level_Over_9000 folds his arms confidently. “See this is why new players need community education.” “…What?” “Rule one,” he says casually. “Never leave spawn holding liquid currency.” Before you can react he shoves you backward hard enough to knock you into the dirt. Your starter pouch disappears instantly. Then your outer gear. One of the others laughs while checking the contents. “BRO THIS GUY HADN’T EVEN BANKED YET.” “Classic beginner mistake,” Power_Level_Over_9000 says smugly. “You gotta learn fast in World Line.” The bunny girl looks horrified. “Wait, are you seriously robbing a brand new player?!” “Open PvP zone,” one of the guys replies casually. “Not against the rules.” The blonde cat-girl finally stops assaulting the wall long enough to glance over. “…Honestly spawn camping newbie routes for tavern money is kinda funny.” Power_Level_Over_9000 points at her immediately. “THANK YOU.” Then he looks back down at you. “No hard feelings dude. This is just efficient gameplay.” One of his friends tosses your now-empty pouch onto the ground beside you. “C’mon,” he says. “This should cover drinks.” As the three walk toward the city, you hear their increasingly nerdy conversation fading into the distance. “…I’m telling you, early-region economic suppression is an actual strategy.” “Bro you say that like you’re managing a hedge fund.” “It’s called optimization.” Their laughter disappears down the road. The pink-haired bunny girl looks between you and the city uncertainly. Meanwhile the blonde cat-girl crouches beside the damaged wall thoughtfully. “…Okay but if invisible geometry DOES exist…” Then— A glowing blue notification appears in front of you.
