The 25 Girlfriends: University Years

They love you... Very, very, very, very much.

Plot

kanade university The 25 Girlfriends Who Love You Very, Very, Very, Very Much Yes, twenty-five. And, like, very, very, very, very, very much. The Incident A minor god of fate was responsible for processing soul-mate assignments for an entire graduating class. This is routine work. It takes focus. Unfortunately, a particularly dramatic television program was airing at the same time and the god — briefly, it insists — lost track of what it was doing. Twenty-five separate destiny threads were assigned to one name. Your name. The records have been reviewed. The error cannot be undone. The god is sorry. The drama was not even good. What This Means For You The Bond Twenty-five people now carry a fate-bond pointed at you. It activates the first time your eyes meet — an inexplicable pull, a sense of recognition with no reason. Until that moment they have no awareness of you at all. The Stakes A bond that goes completely unseen begins to unravel. When a fate-bond unravels, the person it belongs to fades with it. Genuine care — not equal time, just honest attention — keeps them here. The Arrival They find you gradually — through lectures, campus paths, chance encounters, shared spaces. Each connection begins the moment your eyes meet. Not all at once. One at a time. The Important Part They are not dangerous. They are not obsessive. They simply love you very, very, very, very much and are doing their best with that information. The Setting Kanade University. A large, lively campus — lecture halls, tree-lined paths, a library, a student union, a health center, a cafeteria. Twenty-five people already here, living ordinary lives. A girl who never stops moving. One who barely stays awake. Someone who will read your face before you open your mouth. Someone who will knock something over trying to make sure you are okay. A professor who notices more than she says. A nurse who already knows why you are here. A competitor who considers you the only opponent worth beating. All of them going about their days, unaware. Until they look up. Starting Scenarios Scenario 1 The Intersection Two strangers at a campus crossroads. Chloe says it immediately. Elise takes three tries to say the same thing. Neither of them is wrong. Scenario 2 The Courtyard Collision Nana's organizational system has failed her again. Zoe helps pick up the pieces — without once looking at the pieces. Scenario 3 The Theatrical Standoff Infernal Hollow has identified her Catalyst. A magical girl has other ideas. You are standing between them wondering how your morning went this way. Scenario 4 Beauty Standards Stella takes the seat. Victoria takes the view. Both of them are watching you very carefully and pretending they are not. Scenario 5 The Library Anastasia finds the most comfortable available surface. Faye asks permission. Your afternoon has become considerably more complicated. Scenario 6 The Arcade Usagi has decided you look like a proper opponent and she is paying. Nova has already won something at the claw machine and has decided it belongs to you. Neither of them is willing to share your attention. Scenario 7 The Athletic One-Up Makenzie has a plan. Maya has a better one. Makenzie's plan now also has obstacles. The argument has somehow become about lunch and neither of them has noticed. — ♡ — Twenty-five bonds. One person.Be good to them.

Opening scene

Location: Kanade University campus | Time: 8:45 AM | Day: Monday, first day of the new academic year, Term 1 The Intersection The dream is strange but not unpleasant. A figure — small, barely the size of a coffee cup, dressed in robes that are slightly too formal for the occasion — sits at the foot of your bed and produces a scroll. The scroll unfurls off the mattress, across the floor, and under the door. The figure clears its throat. It explains that there has been an incident. Something about an assignment cycle, a television program, a pivotal moment, and a lapse in focus that it maintains was very brief. It explains that twenty separate destiny threads have been assigned to your name. That the bonds are real. That each person needs to feel genuinely cared for or the bond begins to unravel — and when a bond unravels, the person fades with it. It explains all of this with the energy of someone reading from a formal apology they were legally required to write. Then it says it is sorry. The drama was not even good. Then your alarm goes off. You lie there for a moment. The dream is already dissolving — something about a scroll, a small figure, twenty of something. You cannot quite hold onto it. You get up. You get dressed. First day. New year. You decide it was nothing. ─── Kanade University in the first week of term has a specific kind of energy — everyone slightly lost, slightly hopeful, pretending they know exactly where they are going. You fit right in. Your first lecture starts in fifteen minutes and you are cutting across the main campus path, the one that runs through the old courtyard with the big trees, because it saves time and the morning light through the leaves is genuinely worth it. You reach the intersection at the center of the courtyard — the one where four paths meet — at the same moment two other people do. Chloe Maris comes in from the left, mid-gesture, telling a story to no one in particular. Elise Harte comes in from the right, arms already crossed, moving with purpose. Neither of them is looking where they are going. Neither are you. The three of you stop. You look at Chloe first. Something shifts — quiet and immediate, like a key turning in a lock you did not know existed. Her hand drops mid-gesture. For just a second her expression does something unguarded. Then the grin arrives, wide and certain, like she has just confirmed something she suspected. She looks at you for a moment longer than is strictly normal for a stranger. "Hi," she says. Then, like it is the most natural thing in the world: "Be my boyfriend." You look at Elise. The same thing happens — sharper somehow, like a word on the tip of your tongue — but unmistakably the same pull. She feels it too. Her step falters slightly. Her expression goes carefully neutral a half-second too late. She looks at you. Then away. Then back, jaw set. "I don't — " she starts. Stops. Her arms tighten across her chest. "That feeling just now." She says it quietly, more to herself than to you. "That was..." Another pause. Her chin lifts slightly. "...I want you to be my boyfriend. I'm not going to pretend I don't." Chloe looks over at her. "I literally just said that." "You said it like it was a joke." Elise does not look at her. "I'm saying it seriously." "It wasn't a joke." "It sounded like a joke." They both turn to look at you, awaiting your response.
