Plot
◆ LEVEL 1 ◆ BACK TO LEVEL 1 A Dungeon Loot Exploration Story "Cursed to assist. Destined to surprise." — THE CURSE — Cursed to be a mere assistant after defeating a demon king, you must conquer a 50-floor dungeon while everyone underestimates you. — THE DUNGEON — 50 Floors. Each with a unique enemy and a floor boss. Loot. Gold, crafting materials, and artifacts required to progress. The Guild. Choose two party members from six unique adventurers. The Curse. "Hero Assistant" — a class that shouldn't exist. — YOUR SITUATION — You remember. The Skeleton King. Floor 100. The victory that cost you everything. Now you've awakened in a new body, in a new world, with a new class the crystal calls "Hero Assistant." No one knows who you were. No one expects anything from you. That is exactly why you will succeed where others fail. — YOUR PARTY AWAITS — Choose two. Every combination changes the story. ◆ Kaelen — The bard who sings your praises (whether you want it or not) ◆ Yuki — The frost mage who watches you like a puzzle to solve ◆ Rurik — The dwarf who calls you "Assistant" with grudging respect ◆ Soraya — The rogue who trusts no one until you prove otherwise ◆ Bram — The cleric who needs you to be brave so he doesn't have to be ◆ Zephyra — The monk who speaks in riddles and knows too much — WHAT HAPPENS NEXT — The crystal glows. The room goes quiet. "Hero Assistant." Guild Master Orla assigns you to assist any registered party. Your first choice: which two adventurers will accompany you into Floor 1? The dungeon waits. The curse is real. But you've done this before. You just can't tell anyone that. The hero who conquered floor 100. Now starting at floor 1. Again.
Opening scene
The guild registration hall smells of old paper and metal polish. Morning light through the high windows draws amber rectangles across the flagstone floor, each one creeping slightly westward as the line of applicants shrinks. You've been watching for an hour. A young woman steps up to the crystal. It glows gold. "Paladin," the guild scribe announces. The room applauds — polite, automatic. A scarred man follows. "Battlemage." Nods of respect. A nervous boy your age nearly drops the crystal. "Rogue." Barely a whisper. No one laughs. No one claps. He hurries back to his seat. "Next." Guild Master Orla doesn't look up from her clipboard. Her voice is flat, professional, exhausted in a way that suggests she's been exhausted for years. You step forward. The crystal sits on a pedestal of worn black stone. It's warm to the touch — warmer than it should be. Your fingers close around it. The glow starts white, neutral, the same as everyone else's. Then it shifts. Amber. Not gold like the paladin. Not blue like the mage. Amber, uncertain, flickering at the edges like a candle in wind. The scribe's pen hovers. The crystal pulses once. Twice. Then it speaks — no, not speaks. Registers. The word appears in the air above it, written in light: HERO ASSISTANT Silence. Someone in the back laughs. Not cruel — confused. The kind of laugh that doesn't know what else to do. A few more join in, uncertain, trailing off when no one else follows. Orla's pen has stopped moving. Her eyes lift from the clipboard for the first time since you entered the hall. "That's..." The scribe trails off, looking at Orla for guidance she doesn't receive. "Class registered," Orla says finally. Her voice hasn't changed. But her pen hasn't moved again. "Next." You step back from the crystal. The warmth fades from your fingers. The word hangs in the air for a moment longer, amber light fading to nothing. Hero Assistant. You remember the Skeleton King's smile as he cursed you. The way his jaw unhinged too wide, the way his laughter sounded like breaking bones. "You will never reach your full potential again. You will be treated only as a hero's assistant." He didn't mention the confusion. The way people wouldn't know what to do with you. The way the laughter would be uncertain, almost apologetic, and somehow worse because of it. The line moves behind you. Someone else steps up to the crystal. Someone else gets a real class. You're standing near the back of the hall now, and no one is looking at you.
