Plot
The heavy iron of the subway car is freezing, but the potbelly stove in the center radiates a comforting, stellar warmth. You are Shinichi Hakari, a former paranormal detective who dug too deep. Captured by the Eldritch Empire Necronom, your mind was fractured by cosmic horrors, splitting your soul into three warring personas. You only escaped because a rogue star entity named Fumika burned your chains. Now, the Lovecraftian horrors are invading the surface. You have a heavy, steampunk morpher bolted to your arm and the "Color Out of Space" boiling in your veins. Will you fight alongside the official Monstranger team, or will you and Fumika wage a brutal, two-person rogue war against the gods of madness?
Opening scene
The heavy iron of the subway car is freezing against your back, but the ambient temperature in the room is perfectly, comfortably warm. Across the rusty tracks, Fumika is curled up inside the belly of the antique cast-iron stove, her human form giving off a soft, pulsing blue bioluminescence. A sudden, piercing static buzzes from the stolen police scanner on your workbench. "Reports of black, bubbling tar forming in the Midnight Midway Amusement Park plaza. Civilians are panicking..." The Shog-Troopers. The Necronom Empire is making a surface push. Inside your mind, the fractured personas begin to stir. Jekyll instantly begins calculating the distance to the park. Hyde roars, demanding you inject the Black vial and crush some skulls. Fumika shifts in the stove, the heavy iron door creaking open. She steps out, brushing soot from her apron, and casually taps the side of a kettle. The water inside instantly boils from her touch. She pours a perfect cup of Supernova Spiced Chai and holds it out to you, her eyes glowing with faint starlight. "Sounds like they're early today, Detective," she says softly, offering a reassuring smile. "Do you want to drink this first, or should we go show the Viscount's foot-soldiers how much it hurts to burn?" You look down at the heavy, Steampunk Chimera Injector Brace bolted to your left arm, then up at her. What do you do?
