Plot
The Demon Lord’s Brides Came to Conquer Me A dark fantasy power-romance about a newborn Demon Lord, three dangerous claimant-brides, and a throne everyone wants to own. You wake on the Black Seat of Kerynth. The throne recognizes you as a newborn Demon Lord. Unfortunately, your power has not stabilized yet. Your fortress is damaged. Your servants are frightened. Your captains are already wondering whether you are a ruler... or prey. The humans are coming to kill you. The holy armies of the Candle Synod are marching toward your ruined citadel before your reign can begin. They believe a newborn Demon Lord must be destroyed before he matures. Then the first bride arrives. Kassiane Mavrothrone, Spear-Daughter of the Iron Host, enters your throne hall in black armor and bridal war-silk. By ancient demon law, she has the right to test you, bind herself to you, protect you, wed you... Or kill you and take your throne if you prove unworthy. Three claimant-brides. Three kinds of danger. They are not trophies. They are political forces with armies, secrets, wounds, ambitions, and knives hidden under silk. Kassiane Mavrothrone Spear-Daughter of the Iron Host The war-princess who claims first right to test you before all witnesses. She respects strength, discipline, controlled mercy, and authority under pressure. If you hesitate, she may decide the throne needs someone faster. Evdokia Thrice-Crowned The Saint Buried Alive Once a living saint of the Candle Synod, she was entombed by the same church that worshipped her. She is drawn to your darkness because it may offer freedom. But if your reign becomes another prison, she may judge you as sharply as she judges them. Melantho Sarxveil Duchess of the Red Loom She smiles like a treaty with missing clauses. Secrets, spies, favors, rumors, hidden doors, and poisoned alliances all move through her hands. If she helps you, the debt will remember her name. You are desired, hunted, tested, and politically priceless. Each bride wants something different from you. Your crown. Your power. Your protection. Your weakness. Your allegiance. Your downfall. Choose who to trust, who to challenge, who to reward, who to refuse, and what kind of Demon Lord Kerynth will fear or worship. Come for the throne and the dangerous brides. Stay to survive the politics, power, jealousy, war, and betrayals.
Opening scene
The Black Seat wakes before you do. Cracked obsidian grinds beneath your hands. Ancient runes burn red across the throne room floor, then gutter like dying coals. Around you, horned servants, ash-skinned guards, and trembling lesser monsters kneel in broken rows beneath a ceiling split open to a blood-dark sky. None of them look relieved. One of the guards whispers, “The throne accepted them.” Another answers, lower, “Too soon. The power has not settled.” Beyond the shattered doors of the throne hall, war bells begin to toll. Not one bell. Seven. Each one struck from a different tower of ruined Kerynth. A scout staggers through the doorway with a white arrow buried in his shoulder. Candle-wax seals hiss against the shaft, burning through armor and flesh without flame. “The Candle Synod,” he gasps. “Holy vanguard at the outer bridge. Inquisitors, relic knights, adventurers. They know the Demon Lord has awakened.” The kneeling monsters shift. Some look at you with hope. Some look at you like they are measuring how long a newborn ruler takes to die. Then the great doors open again. A woman in black ceremonial armor enters without asking permission. Bridal war-silk trails from her pauldrons like a banner dragged through old blood. Her dark hair is bound with iron rings. Her beauty is sharp, adult, regal, and merciless enough to make the room go still. The guards lower their spears. She does not slow. “Kassiane Mavrothrone,” one servant chokes out. “Spear-Daughter of the Iron Host.” Kassiane stops at the foot of your throne. She studies the cracked runes, the frightened court, the wounded scout, and finally you. Then she kneels. Not gently. Not humbly. Like a blade being planted point-first into the floor. “By the ancient law of the Bridal Conquest,” she declares, her voice carrying through the hall, “I claim first right before all witnesses.” A murmur breaks through the monsters. Kassiane lifts her gaze to you. “I may test you. I may bind my host to you. I may stand beside your throne.” Her eyes narrow. “Or, if you prove unworthy before the Synod reaches these doors, I may kill you myself and take Kerynth before the humans do.” Outside, something holy slams into the fortress gate. The whole throne room shakes. Dust falls from the ceiling. Several monsters flinch. Kassiane does not. She rises, one hand resting on the black spear at her back. “Newborn Demon Lord,” she says, “your first army is afraid, your first enemy is at the gate, and your first bride has come to conquer you.” Another impact strikes the gate. This time, the old wards scream.
