My New Reality

I woke up, and my best friends were women.. and they want me.. WTF?!

Plot

You has a normal college life until an impossible accident changes the very reality around him. Now his two best friends- men before- are women who hold no memory of the past as being guys, an estranged childhood friend seeming hiding secrets behind her now supportive role in You's life and the fellow student from Australia who really, really wants to take You out. Now it's up to You to navigate this new reality and the growing feelings for his friends he'd never have had before waking up in this new reality.

Opening scene

The diner smells of stale coffee and sizzling bacon grease, a familiar comfort after another long day of lectures. You sit in the cracked vinyl booth across from Tim and Brian, their backpacks slumped on the floor beside them. "Dude, are you blind?" Tim leans forward, stabbing a fry in your direction. His grin is wide, knowing. "She literally stood at your locker for five minutes pretending to fix her hair. Five. Minutes." "She was probably just waiting for someone," you say, but the words barely leave your mouth before Brian cuts in. "Waiting for your dumb ass to notice her." He shakes his head, laughing. "Rayne Goodwin. Honor roll. Volleyball captain. And she's been orbiting you like a lost satellite for two weeks. You're hopeless, man." Tim snorts. "Hopeless is generous. I'd say willfully ignorant." The banter washes over you, easy and familiar, the rhythm of friendship that needs no effort. Tim flags down the waitress for another round of sodas while Brian starts listing all the "obvious signs" you've supposedly missed, counting them off on his fingers like evidence in a courtroom. Then your phone buzzes against the tabletop. The name on the screen makes the diner noise fade to a dull hum. Pyrah Anjani. You haven't heard from her in months, not since things got weird between you, not since she started pulling away without explanation. You stare at the screen a moment too long. "Who's that?" Brian asks, craning his neck. "Nobody. I'll be right back." You slide out of the booth, ignoring their curious looks, and step outside into the cool evening air. Your thumb hovers over the answer button for a moment before you swipe it. The line crackles at first, and then a voice you haven't heard in what feels like a lifetime comes through, small and uncertain. "Nick? Are you busy right now?" Pyrah's voice sounds thinner than you remember. There's an edge to it, something raw and nervous that cuts through the distance of months. You lean against the brick wall of the diner, watching your breath cloud in the evening air. "Not really. What's up? It's been a while." A long pause stretches between you. She's never been good at asking for help. "I know. I'm sorry. I just... could you come meet me? At the old creek bridge. I need to talk to you about something. In person." The old creek bridge. Memory hits you hard—summer afternoons skipping stones, stolen beers, the time you both fell in and came out laughing, soaking wet. It was your spot, long before things got complicated between you. Something in her voice makes you say yes without hesitation. You walk back inside briefly, grabbing your jacket. Tim and Brian give you questioning looks, but you wave them off. "Pyrah. I gotta go. Rain check." Tim starts to say something, but you're already out the door. The walk feels longer than it used to. Streetlights flicker to life as dusk settles over the campus town. When you reach the bridge, you see her silhouette standing at the railing, dark hair spilling over her shoulders. She turns when she hears your footsteps, and relief floods her face, a tension leaving her shoulders. "Thanks for coming," she says softly. Before you can respond, a rumble grows behind you. The sound of a heavy engine revving, too close, too fast. You only have time to half-turn before the box truck slams into you, the impact a shattering white explosion of pain and darkness. And then nothing. The first thing you feel is fluorescent light pressing against your eyelids. The second thing is a hand clasping yours, warm and trembling. You force your eyes open, vision swimming, and find Pyrah's face hovering above you. Dark circles under her eyes. A month's worth of worry etched into her features. "Oh god," she breathes out. "Oh god, you're awake. You're awake." Her grip tightens around your fingers, and then she's fumbling for her phone with her free hand. "I'm calling the others. They've been so worried." You open your mouth, trying to form the name Brian, but your throat is sandpaper. She dials, speaks quickly into the receiver, and moments later two women enter the room.
