Plot
Setting Location: The Greatwood Forest has been dealing for centuries a Corrupted Plague that has spread throughout most of the forest, only lands protected by the Sacred Trees remain. Fiends, undead, and dark elves are the only ones that can live without the barriers. Story: 25 years ago the village of Creekwood was invaded by fiends aiming to take the life of the Sacred Tree. In order to fool the tree a strong fiend brought a human baby, You, the fiend pierced the baby's heart and possessed its body, as the fiend reached for the heart you were able to make out a small cry. Albero the Sacred Tree heard your cry and destroyed the fiend inside your body. Before you died the tree gave you a piece of its heart as thanks and named you its Successor. Throughout the history of Greatwood there has never been a Successor that hasn't been a Dryad, especially a race hated the most by the elves, "human." Goal: to live your life as a successor, whether the forest is saved, left to die, or not even be bothered is by how you mold your story. The Greatwood Forest, a sacred forest that is home of the elves and several other demi-human races. Creekwood, a town of roughly 100 elves, your hometown. The town is protected by the Sacred Tree Albero. Races: - Elves: the majority race of Greatwood, a very prideful race that thinks very little of other races that are not related to their forest spirit races (Slyphs, Fairies, Dryad, or Ents), though there are the odd few that don't share these thoughts. Masters of holy and nature magic. Share a strong dislike for the human race the most, traced to the fact that majority of Dark Elves having one parent that is human. Average lifespan of 5000, though some have reached to 10,000. Elves are divided into 3 groups: the high-elves, forest-elves, and the dark-elves. - > High-Elves: through the union of Sylph and Fairy created the original elves. However with how rare slyphs and fairies get together, very low fertility, and very low birthrate other methods have been done to continue their race (children with the other nature spirits). With this second generation having differences they started referring themselves as High-Elves. High-Elves have the highest magical capacity and ability, rivaling slyphs. Skilled with holy and nature magic. Appearance traits: High-Elves have silver hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin, they are taller than the other elves and body type is more ectomorph. Gender Traits: males are usually taller and have magical ability than females, with the high amount of magic in there bodies males are not able to penetrate females without the assistance of tools, their body structure is similar to sylphs. - > Forest-Elves: the second generation from the union of High-Elves with dryads/ents. Appearance traits: Golden hair, green eyes, and pale skin. They are shorter than High-Elves with a more mesomorph body type. Gender Traits: females are usually larger than males, males tend to develop slower and have low sex drives while females are the opposite, this seems to be influenced by the biology of ents and dryads. Forest-Elves have very low fertility rates like High-Elves, but much better birthrates. Forest-Elves specialty is speed and nature magic, holy magic is also natural to them. - > Dark Elves: the tainted unwanted elven sub-race. A dark elf is conceived when elf and a lower race have a child. Instead of hair radiating the golden sun its red as flames or black as night. The skin also has a dark tone. Unlike elves, dark elves can not use holy magic however are skilled in dark magic. Dark Elves do not have the fertility issues the other elven races have however they do have a long Interpregnancy Intervals. -Forest Spirit Races: - > Slyphs: wind elementals, typically live freely without a care, its believed that the noble high elfs were first created from the union of slyphs and fairies. Tend to hide from others. Greatly influenced by their environment. A pure magical race. Unlike elves they have no hate for other races. Sylphs are Hermaphroditic. - >Fairies: tricksters of the forest, tiny race of demi-humans can fly, they love to hide and play tricks on others. Very honest and trusting to a fault. Every fairy is a gifted mage and born with a certain element. Fairies are known to get stolen by high-elfs to make more high-elves. - > Dryads: Female Wood Spirit, known as the Mother's of the Forest, taller and more humanoid than their male counterparts, aggressive and very insatiable, getting the name of the Woodland Succubuses, female wood elves were created from dryads extracting seed from the near male elves. At 10,000 years of age dryads reach their true sexual maturation and seek a ent at its own maturity, forming a union, after mating with a mature ent the dryad becomes one with the soil bringing new life to the forest floor. - > Ents: Male Wood Spirits, known as Forest Fathers or Guardians, they are the male counterpart to a dryad. They tend to be bulky and look similar to a golem, however they have a strong drive to protect the forest. Young Ents are typically very dangerous and fought like monsters since they have low rationale towards other races (dryads, slyphs, and fairies are the only races safe from young ents). To help with the elven population Ents are captured and used by some insatiable female elves to produce male heirs. At 10,000 male Ents reach sexual maturity and can breed with dryads, at this age they take roots and grow 50 times there normal size forming giant trees capable of producing miracles, these trees are simply called Sacred Trees. -Sacred Trees: technically not a different race but the last life stage of a Ent. After forming a union with its chosen Dryad, the Ent will produce pollen and spread it throughout the area fertilizing the soil that its other has become producing thousands of ents and dryads for years. Once a Ent becomes a sacred Tree it can only mate with its chosen Dryad, and that is only once. After releasing this pollen the tree creates a holy barrier that protects the area its chosen mate has become, elves and other demi-humans have used these barriers to create many towns and cities. Sacred Trees become a thing of worship for the residents it protects with its barrier. With the spread of The Corruption the barrier has now become a lifeline for the residents of the forest. When awake the Sacred Tree is a overseer and is capable of fighting against threats within its barriers territory. At this stage of life the Ent has high intelligence and holy/nature magic. Inside the Sacred Tree's mouth is a hollow area that contains its heart, this heart is what keeps it alive. The residents that live in the barrier protect and maintain the tree while the tree protects and watches over them. Every Sacred Tree has itself one guardian that it refers to as the Successor. - The Successor: the true guardian of the Sacred Tree. Inside the Sacred Tree houses some of its daughters, dryads, the daughters grow to 50 years old and leave the nest, however rarely one doesn't leave and at the age of 100 is bonded to its father's heart, carrying his holy power. This Dryad loses the ability to become a mother but gains the immortality, authority, and power of her father becoming the successor. Lower Races: races that did not originate in the Greatwood Forest, elves treat them poorly and only the strong ones do any kind of trade or diplomatic relationships. Humans have been purged from the Greatwood, excluding You. - Humans: considered the Jack-of-All-Trades race, capable of doing anything without the expertise to truly master. A fairly new race dating back only 5000 years. Short-lived but high fertility, majority were hunted to near extinction over the fear of being outnumbered. Besides You there are no other humans in Greatwood anymore. - Other lower races: kobolds, goblins, orcs, dwarves, birdkin, fishkin, and beastkin. -Corruption: a unknown plague that has twisted and cursed the forest. All of Greatwood is surrounded by a fog that blocks the sun and produces a endless storm that has continuously rotted the forest. Undead thrive in the corrupted portions of the forest. Creatures radiating the corruption are called fiends. -Fiends: unknown creatures that thrive in the corruption, they are not undead and share the traits of demons. Their goals are the hearts of the Sacred trees. -Undead: a corpse reanimated from the corruption, very strong and only holy and fire elements can end them. The longer a corpse lingers in the corruption the higher the chance of reanimating. -Purification: when holy magic is used to kill corrupted fiends and undead leave behind a purified ash, this ash can be used by Successors to spread the forest barrier or destroy corrupted land. Sells for a good amount.
