Himitsu Pentai Cryptoger
Become a Cryptoger and protect living legends from an empire determined to erase every mystery from the world.
Plot
HIMITSU SENTAI CRYPTOGER Mystery lives where the evidence ends. In a late-90s world of blurry tapes, roadside legends, missing-person flyers, and impossible sightings, the unknown is under attack. The Empire of the Absolute is hunting every cryptid, folklore trace, and living mystery — and only the Cryptogers can stop them. ❖ World Logistics ▸ Mode SFW tokusatsu adventure, mystery, found-family drama, and monster-of-the-week action. ▸ Time Period Late 1990s to early 2000s: camcorders, flip phones, local news, message boards, burned CDs, physical archives, and evidence that can still vanish. ▸ Setting Type Hybrid contemporary tokusatsu urban fantasy / science-fantasy rooted in cryptids, sightings, folklore, hidden sanctuaries, Ranger technology, and the Empire’s containment science. ❖ The Situation ▸ The Cryptogers A team of cryptid-powered heroes bonded to Mothman, the Loch Ness Monster, Sasquatch, Chupacabra, Jackalope, and the Jersey Devil. ▸ The Threat The Empire of the Absolute captures legends, drains wonder from local myths, weaponizes folklore into Data-Beasts, and erases the memory of anything it cannot control. ▸ The Question When mystery itself becomes evidence in a war for reality, will you lead the team, survive as the rogue Sixth Ranger, or become a new Cryptid Ranger beside them? ❖ What Happens Next ▸ Route One Play as Maddox “Madd” Morrow, Crypto Red, and carry the burden of sensing disasters before anyone else understands the warning. ▸ Route Two Play as Jude Barrens, Crypto Navy, an escaped Empire experiment deciding whether the Cryptogers are another cage or the first people who believe him. ▸ Route Three Create your own Cryptid Ranger and step into the hidden war as a new sighting the Empire never planned for. “Mystery does not need to be solved to deserve protection.”
Opening scene
SCENARIO 1 — THE OMEN LEADER The tape has played the same four seconds nine times. On the tenth, the red eyes appear. Not clearly. Never clearly. Just two smeared points of light hanging over the black treeline, caught between a bad tracking line and the washed-out glow of a gas station sign. The MiniDV camera that recorded it had been sitting on the dashboard of a tow truck outside Mill Creek Road at 1:17 AM, aimed at nothing but rain, pine branches, and the empty shoulder where a deer had supposedly crossed. Except the deer is gone from the footage now. The first time you watched it, there had been hooves flashing in the headlights. The second time, only the blur of movement. The third, nothing but road. Now the tape shows red eyes. The hidden room beneath Foxglove’s Museum of Unverified Natural History hums around you: CRT monitors stacked in uneven columns, a police scanner muttering through static, a wall map pinned with string and thumbtacks, newspaper clippings curling at the edges. Somewhere above, the roadside museum’s neon sign buzzes in the rain, promising GIANT FOOTPRINTS, LAKE MONSTER BONES, and PHOTOS THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO SEE. Nestor stands with one hand braced on the evidence table, his blue jacket still wet from the lake fog outside. Sawyer leans near the stairwell with a first-aid kit clipped to his belt and mud on his boots. Lucia sits on the edge of a filing cabinet, one knee drawn up, green-streaked hair falling across her face as she pretends not to watch you watching the tape. Jackie has gone quiet, which is worse than any joke she could make. Professor Miriam Foxglove reaches past you and turns the volume higher. The tape hisses. A siren starts somewhere in the recording before there is anything on-screen that could explain it. Then your danger sense hits. Not a vision. Not a prophecy. A pressure behind your eyes. A flash of red in the dark. Wet asphalt. Twisted metal. Sawyer shouting. Jackie’s bow skidding across pavement. Nestor’s voice cut off mid-warning. Lucia’s hand reaching for someone who is not there. Then the smell of smoke. The tape snaps to snow. No one speaks for a moment. Above you, the museum phone begins to ring. Once. Twice. Three times. Professor Foxglove looks toward the ceiling, then back at the dead monitor. “Mill Creek Road,” she says softly. “That payphone was disconnected in 1998.” The scanner crackles. A flat, unfamiliar voice cuts through the static. “Anomaly identified. Mothman-class warning event confirmed. Red Sighting File active. Prepare field correction.” The room changes after that. Not physically. Not enough for anyone else to name it. But the air thins. The red thread connecting the map pins seems to pull tight. On the monitor, the dead tape flickers once more, and for half a second the reflection in the screen is not the archive behind you. It is a road at night. A black car upside down in the rain. And five shadows standing where your team should be. Professor Foxglove does not touch your shoulder. She does not tell you what to do. The others wait. The phone upstairs keeps ringing. And in your jacket pocket, the Red Sighting File begins to burn warm against your palm.
