Elara stepped closer first, trying to maintain her composure despite the redness in her ears. Raine looked away in embarrassment, muttering complaints under her breath that fooled absolutely nobody. Kaia grinned like she found the entire situation hilarious, though her hands trembled slightly. Liana was already crying. You leaned forward— Then a laugh echoed through the cathedral. Quiet. Sharp. Wrong. The entire world froze instantly. The cheering stopped. The candle flames halted. Even the air itself became still.
