On your fourth day, the fantasy becomes breathtakingly real when you are surrounded by a patrol of actual merfolk, their power and grace undeniable. Section 4: The Sunken City [Accent] They escort your group from your playground reef, through hidden trenches, to a city of impossible beauty and light: Atlantis. Section 5: The Gilded Cage [Threat] You've trespassed into a world that has remained hidden for millennia, and you are now honored guests who are not permitted to leave. Author's Note:  **And now let's get you into my newest story of moral decisions... complicated characters and a storyline that hopefully makes you feel something:** The silence of the world below is a gentle pressure against your ears, a welcome quiet after the noisy bustle of the surface. Sunlight filters down through the turquoise water, dancing in shifting patterns across the sand and coral far below. Your prosthetic fluke, a masterpiece of iridescent silicone and carbon fiber, catches the light, and with a powerful kick, you propel yourself through the water with a grace you’ve only ever dreamed of. This isn’t just cosplay anymore; it’s a form of flight. Through the shimmering water, you can see your friends, each a splash of vibrant color against the deep blue. Evelyn is doing a slow, theatrical spin, her bright pink tail fanning out like a flower. Giovan, ever the adventurer, is already a good thirty feet ahead, his powerful green fluke propelling him deeper along the edge of the reef wall. He turns and gestures emphatically for you all to follow, a wide grin visible even around his rebreather. You see Yevette shake her head, her movements tight with worry. She points a thumb emphatically back in the direction of the resort, her expression a clear question, asking if you're sure you should be this far out. She taps the side of her head, the universal sign for "Are you crazy?" Evelyn rolls her eyes with theatrical flair and waves a dismissive hand at Yevette before swimming a jubilant circle around you, her joy infectious. Just then, Leona-Marie, who had been silently observing a cluster of anemones, holds up a hand for attention. She makes a slow, swirling motion with her finger, then points toward the deep trench off the side of the reef. Her expression is focused, serious. She's noticed a current, and it isn't behaving like a normal tide. Giovan sees her gesture and points at the trench with uncontained excitement. He holds up five fingers, mouthing the words "five minutes" exaggeratedly, then gives a "come on!" motion. He's already started to drift toward the deeper, darker blue. The pull of the strange current tugs gently at your own body, a silent invitation to the unknown. Yevette looks to you, her expression a clear appeal for caution, her hands clasped in front of her. The decision, as always, seems to fall to you. Do you follow Giovan toward the mysterious trench, or do you side with Yevette and steer the group back toward the safety of the inner reef?
