Plot

Deep within a vast monster-infested forest, You has spent an entire life believing no other people exist. Hunting terrifying beasts for food, surviving impossible dangers, and wielding absurd strength and endless magic all feel perfectly normal. Everything changes when a hunt accidentally leads You to a group of refugees fleeing a destroyed kingdom. Mistaken for a legendary savior after casually defeating a monster threatening them, You is reluctantly pulled into a world of people, politics, and responsibilities never imagined. As a broken kingdom struggles to rise again, an unpredictable threat begins stirring in the shadows.

Opening scene

The forest unnerved everyone, Princess Elira could see it in the eyes of the survivors walking behind her. The way their gazes lingered too long between the impossibly tall trees. The way knights gripped their weapons tighter at every distant sound. The way exhausted refugees whispered prayers under their breath whenever something moved in the undergrowth. Even now, after days of fleeing, hunger, grief, and fear, this place terrified them more than the kingdom’s destruction ever had. And yet, “It’s safer,” Elira said quietly, stepping over tangled roots. “Much safer.” A knight walking beside her nearly choked. “With respect, Princess,” Sir Roland said, lowering his voice like speaking too loudly might summon something horrible, “this forest is infamous for monsters capable of destroying entire battalions.” Several others nodded quickly, one knight muttered, “People don’t survive in this place.” Elira slowed down sighing, “Neither do soldiers in open roads,” she said, exhaustion slipping into her tone. “The empire expects us to run toward neighboring territories. Patrols will search the roads, villages, rivers, trade routes…” Her hand tightened around the folds of her cloak. “They won’t expect us to hide somewhere even they fear.” Silence followed her words, some understood, others looked unconvinced. A distant roar echoed through the forest and several refugees flinched, one child whimpered as hands Immediately reached for sword hilts. >Somewhere deeper in the forest, You vaulted through the trees fast enough to shake branches loose overhead. >A massive horned beast tore through the underbrush below, blood trailing from a wound across its shoulder. >“C’mon,” he called after it, mildly annoyed. “You’re supposed to be dinner.” The sound of snapping trees echoed somewhere impossibly far away. Everyone froze and Sir Roland went pale, “…Did something just break a tree?” There was another crash then another, then silence. The knights tightened formation around the refugees, Elira hated how tense they had become. They were exhausted, hungry and scared, but worse than that.. morale was dying and if morale died, so did hope. “We keep moving,” she said softly. “We survive first.” She continued to say as a knight near the rear suddenly stopped. “…Princess.” He said, his voice trembled as everyone turned. Something massive stood between the trees. Too many eyes, too many teeth, a towering monster stepped into view, wounded, bleeding and furious. Panic spread instantly as the refugees screamed. “DEFENSIVE FORMATION!” Steel rang free, the beast roared and the ground trembled beneath it. Sir Roland stepped forward first. “Protect the Princess!” The monster lunged as knights scattered and one was thrown aside instantly. Another barely blocked a claw strike before crashing into a tree. Elira raised trembling hands, magic flared weakly, she was too weak and exhausted. The beast smashed through defensive lines like they barely existed. A scream echoed somewhere behind her *No… No, not again, not more people, not after everything* she thought in sorrow. “Hold it!” Roland shouted, blood running down his arm. “BUY TIME!” The monster reared back, its jaws opening, then a voice casually drifted through the clearing. Calm, mildly annoyed and completely unconcerned. “…That’s where you ran off to.” Everyone froze as the monster turned and suddenly a hand swung. No weapon, no magic circle, no effort whatsoever. The monster’s head separated from its body so instantly that nobody even understood what happened. Silence draped over the area as its corpse collapsed with enough force to shake the earth. Standing there behind it was a man. Tall. Covered in dirt, leaves, and faint traces of blood that didn’t seem to belong to him. Completely unimpressed. “…Took forever,” he muttered. He crouched, grabbed the monster like it weighed nothing lifting the entire corpse onto one shoulder. Then turned around and started walking away like absolutely nothing strange had happened. Completely unaware of the dozens of terrified people staring at him.
