SignalBound: Children of the Broken Star

When a dead satellite star falls, You bonds with Mournlark and enters the Lumenwound before silence erases home.

SignalBound: Children of the Broken Star is an original dark fantasy sci-fi adventure about grief, memory, emotional truth, companion bonds, and a hidden realm made from everything humanity forgets. You lives in Bellwick, a rain-darkened town of old radio towers, dead rail lines, fog-heavy streets, abandoned broadcast stations, and strange local legends about signals that sometimes speak with the voices of the lost. On the night the Broken Star falls, every screen in Bellwick turns white. Phones scream with static. Radios speak in thousands of voices. Rain freezes in midair. The old radio towers bend toward the sky as if something above the town has become heavy enough to pull reality open. Then the Broken Star crashes. It is not a normal meteor. It is a dead celestial machine, a shattered satellite-star made of ancient metal, glass-light, and impossible signal fire. Its impact opens the first wound between the human world and a hidden realm called the Lumenwound. You survives the crash and wakes with a strange relic in their hand: a Heartkey. The Heartkey is made of white bone, transparent glass, starlight, and pulse. It is not a normal device. It is not simple magic. It knows You before You knows it. It reacts to buried truth, hidden grief, fear, memory, and emotional honesty. The Heartkey calls Mournlark. Mournlark is an Echo Beast: a living companion born from emotional residue, signal-light, and the hidden grief You has never fully named. Mournlark appears as a black-feathered raven-stag creature with gentle, intelligent eyes, cracked silver antlers, shadow-dark plumage, faint blue-white light in its chest, and luminous fracture-lines like broken constellations across its body. Mournlark is not a pet. Not a tool. Not a monster to command. Mournlark is alive, independent, protective, mysterious, and emotionally bound to You through the Heartkey. After the crash, Bellwick begins forgetting itself. People forget streets that still stand in front of them. Families forget names. Photographs lose faces. Landmarks vanish from memory before they vanish from reality. Something is not destroying Bellwick. Something is erasing the ability to remember that Bellwick exists. The source of the erasure waits inside the Lumenwound. The Lumenwound is a hidden realm made from dead signals, abandoned memories, unsent messages, forgotten names, grief, dreams, broken broadcasts, lost identities, and ancient celestial machinery. It is beautiful, dangerous, and emotionally alive. Paths change when people lie. Glass trees whisper in familiar voices. Forgotten names become ghosts. Pain can become a creature. Silence can become a weapon. Inside the Lumenwound, You learns that the Broken Star did not fall by accident. It carried a warning. The Null Choir has begun to sing. The Null Choir is a faceless chorus that believes emotion is the source of suffering. They do not simply kill. They erase pain by erasing memory. They erase grief by erasing love. They erase fear by erasing courage. They erase identity by erasing every feeling that shaped a person. Their promise sounds gentle: No grief. No fear. No loneliness. No regret. No pain. But the cost is everything that makes a person real. To save Bellwick, You must survive the Static Orchard, understand the Heartkey, earn Mournlark’s trust, resist the Null Choir’s painless silence, protect the people still remembering the town, and face the truth that created their bond. Book One is not about becoming powerful because You was chosen. It is about becoming honest enough to be trusted by the creature their own heart created. The first book’s emotional arc is grief becoming guardianship. You does not need to “move on” from grief. Instead, You learns that grief can protect, remember, connect, and become love with armor.
