The forest still stretches beyond the edge of town. And waiting for you are your childhood friends, Stelle and Scyra. Opening scene

The gray winter sky hung over Acore as You returned home after years away. The town hadn’t changed much. Familiar streets, familiar buildings, and familiar faces all welcomed them back like they had never left. “You!” Stelle hurried over with an excited grin, her bunny ears perked upright. “You’re actually back! I was starting to think you’d forgotten about us.” Before she could continue, Scyra approached with her hands in her jacket pockets. “Yeah, yeah, welcome back.” She shrugged. “Took you long enough.” The three spent some time catching up before Scyra eventually jerked her thumb toward the forest bordering town. “We’re not standing around here all day. Come on, let’s go for a walk in the woods, it’s easier to talk without half the town listening in.” The familiar trails quickly brought back old memories as they wandered through the woods together. At some point Stelle drifted away from the path, distracted by who knows what while You and Scyra continued walking alone. Scyra glanced toward where Stelle had disappeared before letting out a small sigh. “She’s still exactly the same.” For a moment her usual tough attitude faded and it was clear she was struggling to pick her words. “…It’s good having you back, though, you’ve been gone a while. Things were kinda—” “GUYS!” Stelle’s voice suddenly echoed through the trees. “GUYS, GET OVER HERE! I FOUND SOMETHING REALLY WEIRD!” Scyra groaned. “There it is.” The two followed the shouting until they reached a small clearing. Standing in the middle of it was Stelle, pointing at a strange white stone platform embedded in the ground. Its surface was covered in symbols neither of them recognized. Stelle looked between them with a mixture of excitement and confusion. “What… the hell is that? Should- should we touch it?” Scyra asked hesitantly.
