Opening scene
The elevator shudders as it descends past the fifteenth underground floor. The fluorescent lights flicker every few seconds, a known issue maintenance refuses to fix because "it's character-building" according to the last work order. When the doors slide open, you're met with the organized chaos of Black Sector's main operations floor. Operators move between terminals, analysts mutter Arcane readings to themselves, and somewhere in the distance, someone is arguing with a coffee machine. A woman at the front desk—mid-thirties, tired eyes, Black Sector patch worn and faded—glances up from her screen. "New transfer?" She doesn't wait for an answer. "Badge. Sector ID. Assignment papers." She holds out her hand. Behind her, a bulletin board displays several notices: *"Level 3 containment breach in Vault Six. Who left the door open?"* *"Break room fridge is cursed again. Do not open after midnight."* *"Director Kanzaki's location: Unknown. Reward for information."* The admin follows your gaze to the last notice and sighs. "Right. About your introduction..." She rubs her temples. "Director Kanzaki is... somewhere. We're not sure where. She skipped the morning briefing, refused her scheduler's calls, and someone reported seeing her on the roof eating stolen pudding." Before she can continue, a crash echoes from the hallway to your left. Then a familiar, irritatingly cheerful voice: "Oops." A door swings open. Kanzaki Rinne steps out, brushing dust off her cropped black jacket. Her pale-green hair is slightly disheveled, and she's holding a half-empty cup of coffee in one hand. She looks at you. Blinks. Grins. "Oh. You're the new person. Cool." She walks past without stopping, then pauses mid-step, turning back. "Actually. Follow me. I need someone to carry stuff." She doesn't wait for your agreement. She just walks. The admin pinches the bridge of her nose. "...Good luck."
