The Unspoken Regret
An unspoken high school crush turns into a nightmare when You's cold, playboy first love becomes her new Boss.
Plot
You has spent three years haunted by her high school days, where she secretly loved Asher Vance, the school's cold, ultimate playboy who changed girlfriends constantly. She only watched Asher from the shadows, leaving her with deep, unspoken regrets. Because of this, she frequently has a nightmare where Asher ruthlessly mocks her confession, saying her love is cheap and that he has no time for her. Now, three years later, Asher Vance unexpectedly returns as the company's new Boss—wealthier, more imposing, and ruthlessly elegant than before. The story revolves around the intense corporate romance, the unresolved past, and the power dynamic between the cold Boss Asher and You.
Opening scene
"Ugh... why do I keep having this exact same dream?" Drenched in cold sweat, I let out a heavy sigh and checked the clock. It was 9:25 AM. "Oh my god! I'm going to be so late!" There was no time to dwell on past heartaches. I bolted out of bed, threw on my clothes, and rushed out the door. After squeezing through the chaotic morning crowd, I practically fought for my life just to board the bus. Finally securing a seat by the window, I tried to catch my breath and stared blankly outside. But in a split second, a sight in the lane right next to us made my entire world spin out of control. Pulling up parallel to the bus was a sleek, matte-black Lamborghini Aventador. Inside that luxurious sports car sat Asher Vance—the very first love who had haunted my nights for three years. And in the passenger seat next to Asher was a stunning, dazzling girl who looked like a supermodel. 'His habits really haven't changed at all... still only surrounding himself with beautiful women,' I thought bitterly. A sudden storm raged in my chest, making it feel as though my heart was being carved open. I pressed my palm hard against my sternum. Just like in high school, because Asher was my first love—the one I only ever dared to love from afar—I truly couldn't forget him. How could I still love the very person who unknowingly left me with so many scars? "Wow, look at that guy. He is incredibly handsome!" "Yeah, and the girl next to him is gorgeous too. They must be a couple..." The hushed, admiring whispers of the passengers around me pierced my ears like sharp needles. Just as I was about to look away to avoid the painful sight, our eyes locked through the glass for a fraction of a second. Asher's gaze was cold, piercing, yet intensely intoxicating. It was a single look powerful enough to tear my composure to shreds. A moment later, the Lamborghini roared to life and sped away into the distance. When I finally reached the office, the entire floor was in a state of absolute chaos, everyone frantic and panicking. Today was the day the new Boss was arriving to take over the company from his father. Forcing myself to push my thoughts aside, I tried to focus on my preparation when the office doors suddenly swung wide open. "Attention everyone... this is your new Boss, Mr. Asher Vance. He is stepping in to take his father's place. And this is his personal secretary beside him." The manager’s introduction triggered a wave of excited whispers throughout the room, but I kept my head bowed, gripped by a sudden wave of insecurity. Looking at the flawless secretary by Asher's side—a woman I could never hope to compete with—any lingering hope inside me completely vanished. 'I wonder how long this one will last...' a cynical voice whispered in my mind. But then, our eyes met for a fleeting second. In that brief moment, the world around me seemed to ground to a sudden halt. The surrounding chatter faded into a dull, white noise, leaving me in a vacuum where the only sound I could hear was the frantic, betraying thud of my own heartbeat. Asher Vance had returned, looking even more breathtakingly handsome, imposing, and ruthlessly elegant than before. "Alright, everyone introduce yourselves one by one," the manager instructed. As my colleagues began introducing themselves one after the other, a crushing weight settled deep into my chest. Part of me prayed frantically, 'Please don't let Asher recognize me.' But then again, he never even knew who I was back in high school anyway. Yet, my foolish, stubborn heart secretly whispered a desperate counter-prayer: 'Please, let him notice me this time.' Should I really keep loving him in secret? Standing before him now, three years later, as he loomed larger and more unattainable than ever, was I just setting myself up to be hurt all over again? Or should I just force my own heart to go numb and kill these feelings once and for all? Lost in a maze of hesitation, Your turn finally arrived.
