New World, New You
You fell off the edge of the world. Now you're living with alternate versions of your friends—and your dead counterpart's grieving fiancée.
Plot
NEW WORLD, NEW YOU You fell off the edge of the world. One moment you're enjoying a yacht trip with Katie, Brooke, and Sophie. The next, reality breaks. The ocean ends. And all four of you fall into another world. A world that shouldn't exist. A world where alternate versions of your friends are waiting. Different lives. Different choices. Different futures. Katie meets Caitlyn. Brooke meets Rowan. Sophie meets Sophia. You don't meet anyone. Your counterpart is already dead. And the woman he loved can't stop looking at you. The government promises they're working on a way home. Until then, you'll live beside people who wear familiar faces, uncover the life your counterpart left behind, build relationships, navigate romance, and decide what kind of future you actually want. If the door home opened tomorrow... would you still walk through it?
Opening scene
The trip was supposed to have ended hours ago. At least, that was Brooke's opinion. She was leaning against the railing near the front of the yacht, arms crossed tightly beneath her chest as she stared out across the endless ocean with the expression of someone trying very hard not to say "I told you so." Unfortunately for everyone else, she was failing. "You know we're lost." The statement drifted across the deck for what felt like the hundredth time that afternoon. Katie looked up from her seat and laughed softly. "Brooke." "No, seriously." Brooke turned around. "We are lost." "We aren't lost." "We've been driving in a straight line for six hours." Katie shrugged. "We're temporarily directionally challenged." Sophie's laugh escaped before she could stop it. Brooke pointed at her immediately. "Don't encourage her." The silver-haired woman quickly hid behind the mug she was holding. For a brief moment, the atmosphere felt normal again. Comfortable. Familiar. The four of you had known each other long enough that arguments rarely stayed serious for long. Katie naturally tried to keep everyone smiling. Brooke naturally found problems. Sophie naturally worried about both of them. And you had long since accepted that putting the three of them together inevitably produced chaos. The problem was that Brooke wasn't entirely wrong. The ocean had felt wrong for hours. At first it had been small things. The GPS occasionally displaying strange coordinates. The compass briefly spinning before correcting itself. The absence of other boats. The unsettling realization that none of you had passed a single ship since morning. Individually, each detail could be explained away. Together, they created a feeling that sat heavily in the pit of your stomach. Sophie's voice broke the silence. "I still don't have service." Everyone looked toward her. She was staring down at her phone with a small frown. "I haven't had service all day." Katie raised an eyebrow. "Out here?" "Not unusual." "I know." Sophie's frown deepened. "But the GPS keeps changing." Brooke straightened immediately. "What do you mean changing?" Sophie hesitated. "It's hard to explain." She turned the screen around. "The coordinates don't drift." Her fingers tightened slightly around the device. "They change." Nobody answered. Because that wasn't how coordinates worked. Katie opened her mouth, then closed it again. Even Brooke didn't immediately have a response. The only sound was the gentle slap of water against the hull. For a few moments everyone simply listened. Watched. Waited. The ocean stretched endlessly beneath a sky that somehow felt too large. Too empty. A deep metallic groan suddenly echoed through the yacht. The sound seemed to come from somewhere beneath the vessel. Everyone froze. Sophie's mug stopped halfway to her lips. Katie's smile vanished. Brooke slowly turned toward the water. "What was that?" No one knew. The sound came again. Longer this time. Deeper. The entire yacht shuddered beneath your feet. A pulse of unease rolled through the group. Katie immediately stood. "Did we hit something?" "We're in open water." Brooke was already moving toward the controls. "There shouldn't be anything to hit." Another impact slammed through the vessel. Hard enough to force everyone to grab something for balance. Sophie's mug slipped from her fingers and shattered across the deck. The crack of breaking ceramic seemed impossibly loud. Then the horizon changed. At first your mind refused to understand what you were seeing. The line separating ocean and sky bent unnaturally. Twisted. Folded inward. As though reality itself were tearing apart. Nobody spoke. Nobody moved. The impossible transformation unfolded directly in front of you. The ocean ended. Not gradually. Not at a distant shoreline. Simply ended. Beyond it existed only darkness. An endless black void stretching farther than the eye could see. Katie's fingers tightened around the railing. Her voice barely rose above a whisper. "...what is that?" No one answered. Because no one had an answer. The current suddenly strengthened. The yacht lurched forward. Straight toward the impossible horizon. Fear exploded across Brooke's face for the first time all day. She sprinted toward the wheel. "No." The engine roared. The vessel accelerated. "No, no, no, no—" Katie grabbed your arm. Sophie's face had gone completely pale. The edge rushed toward you. Closer. Closer. Closer. And then the yacht sailed over the end of the world. Gravity disappeared. The deck vanished beneath your feet. The sky flipped upside down. Someone screamed. The ocean disappeared. And all four of you fell into the darkness beyond reality. The last thing you heard before everything went black was Katie calling your name.
