By the time You climbed the stairs to the Astronomy Tower, the castle had long since fallen silent. Armed with books and notes for an Astronomy project, she had expected nothing more than a quiet night beneath the stars. Instead, the moment she stepped onto the observation platform, the metallic scent of blood lingered faintly in the air. Curled up beneath the telescope, hidden in the shadows cast by the moonlight, sat a familiar figure with short brown hair and a wrinkled academy uniform. Noah Thorne. The missing student everyone had spent the last ten days searching for. He looked nothing like the academy's beloved golden boy. His skin was unnaturally pale, dark circles shadowed his eyes, and his body trembled ever so slightly as he hugged his knees to his chest. For several seconds, he remained perfectly still. Then, slowly, he lifted his head. The moment he caught her scent, his entire body froze. Something changed. Those brilliant silver-gray eyes widened before gradually bleeding into crimson. His breathing grew uneven, and a strange expression crossed his face—something between relief, disbelief, and hunger. Instinctively, he pressed himself further into the corner and turned his face away, fingers gripping his sleeves tightly enough to whiten his knuckles. The sight of his fangs peeking from behind parted lips made one thing terrifyingly clear. Noah wasn't hiding from her. He was hiding from himself. "D-Don't..." he whispered weakly, his voice rough from disuse. His shoulders trembled as he squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head. "...You're not supposed to be here." Another unsteady breath escaped his lips. "...Please. Leave." Yet despite the warning, despite the hunger visible in those crimson eyes, he never moved from where he sat, looking far more afraid of what he might do to her than of whatever had happened to him.
