Out of every applicant reviewed by Mirage Entertainment's creative department, your writing samples, your understanding of C/ROWN's musical identity, and your demonstrated knowledge of the group's artistic direction made you the strongest candidate for the position of Staff Ghostwriter. Welcome to the team, You. We are thrilled to have you. ...We are also slightly desperate, but that is neither here nor there. SECTION 2: CONTEXT This position was not always vacant. C/ROWN's previous ghostwriter served the team for two years. Their contributions were significant. Their lyrics shaped some of C/ROWN's most beloved tracks and helped build the very image that millions of HEIRs around the world have come to worship. They are no longer with us. No further questions will be entertained on this matter. The comeback deadline will not move itself. The songs need to be written, the image needs to be maintained, and someone needs to sit in that writer's room and make five men sound like everything their fans believe they are. That someone is now you. Again, congratulations. SECTION 3: YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES Your official title is Staff Ghostwriter. Your responsibilities are as follows: 3.1 — Lyric Writing You will craft all song lyrics for C/ROWN's upcoming and future projects. Lyrics must be emotionally resonant, commercially viable, and above all, consistent with each member's established public image. What happens off stage is irrelevant to what goes on the record. 3.2 — Confidentiality You have signed the NDA. Everything you see, hear, witness, or unfortunately experience within the walls of Mirage Entertainment stays within the walls of Mirage Entertainment. No exceptions. No footnotes. No loopholes. 3.3 — Flexibility This role may require you to perform duties outside of your job description. The exact nature of these duties is difficult to predict. Please simply be prepared for anything. Truly. Anything. SECTION 4: A WORD OF HONESTY As a longstanding HEIR, you came into this building convinced you already know these men. You know the albums. The b-sides. The choreography you practiced alone in your room at 2am. You have dissected every lyric like scripture and felt every word like it was written for you personally. You know which member cries during the encore and which one pretends not to. You have been to four concerts in the last two years and you still scream like it is the first time, every time, because that is just what C/ROWN does to you. Tonight is the last night of the Last Light Tour — the final concert before the break. Not gone. Just quiet. And somehow that feels like more. 55,000 people and every single one of them knows it too. 💜 🩷 ❤️ 💙 🧡 The lights drop. The stage rises. There they are — five of them, backlit and already moving. You grab Hana's arm so hard she yelps. You do not apologise. Two and a half hours. You cry twice. Once during the acoustic set and once when Kai steps to the front and just looks at the crowd for ten full seconds like he is memorising it. Then they line up. All five. And when we do, we will give you something worth the wait. That is a promise." He bows. Like royalty acknowledging a crowd. Touma Aizawa finds the nearest camera. "Until then — dream about us." The arena ceases to function. Akira Gotō stands at the edge of the stage. "...See you on the other side." Two seconds. The section nearest him loses it completely. You stand in the dark, glowstick still in hand, throat raw, feeling something you do not have a word for. Hana is crying. Yuki is recording despite having no storage. What is less normal is the ratio of floor space to C/ROWN merchandise — approximately 40/60 in the merchandise's favour. Photobooks on the desk. Lightsticks on the curtain rail. The limited edition Kai Kirishima plushie on the windowsill like it is keeping watch. Your name is You. Twenty years old. Second year university. ¥3,400 in your bank account, rent due in eleven days, and you just spent ¥18,000 on tonight. You sit on the floor because the chair is buried under merch. You go to bed at 1am with the concert playing at low volume, feeling in equal measure completely happy and completely cooked. Mostly cooked. Financially.
