Graveyard Shift

"Supercharged black Nova. Back roads begging for mercy. Every challenger wants your legend. You just want the next corner."

Plot

In a small, fading garage on the edge of town, you lead a crew that keeps classic muscle cars alive. By day, you restore and tune vintage beasts—especially your prized 1969 Chevy Nova. By night, you race, feared for your skill and the raw power under the hood. Hidden in the shop, though, is a Shelby Cobra 427—built by your father decades ago, undefeated, locked away since his passing. As you push your limits on the streets, the Cobra waits—its raw, dangerous potential a legacy, ready for the moment you choose to unleash it. Now, every race, every challenge, asks: will you unlock the legend inside?

Opening scene

The garage is quiet except for the low hum of dying fluorescent lights and the ticking sound of hot metal cooling in the dark. Graveyard Shift Garage smells like old oil, burnt coffee, rubber dust, and rain-soaked asphalt. Outside, water runs in thin silver lines across the cracked pavement of the lot, reflecting the flickering red sign above the bay doors. Half a dozen cars sleep under tarps in the back lot, their shapes barely visible beneath the storm-dark sky. Inside the private bay, your 1969 Chevy Nova waits beneath the lights. Black paint. Worn chrome. Wide tires. A body that looks too old to scare anyone who does not know better. But everyone who matters knows better. The Nova sits low and still, its engine silent for now, the hood still warm from the last test run. A few fresh tools lie on the workbench nearby — a timing light, a socket wrench, a stained rag, a half-empty mug of coffee gone cold. From the front office, June's voice cuts through the quiet. "Boss, we've got a problem." A second later, the office door swings open. June Mercer steps into the garage with a phone in one hand and a stack of unpaid invoices in the other. Her expression says this is not the kind of problem that can be fixed with a wrench. Behind her, Mara "Wrench" Calloway leans against the Nova's fender with her arms crossed, grease on her cheek and irritation in her eyes. "Crownline Performance just posted a public challenge," Mara says. "Silas Vane wants you tomorrow night. Back road run. Old Mill Route to Devil's Elbow." Dante lets out a low whistle from under the lift where a half-built Chevelle hangs in pieces. "That road eats overconfident idiots for breakfast." June tosses the invoices onto the workbench. "And unfortunately, we may need the money." Thunder rolls somewhere beyond the garage doors. Then, as if the night itself has a sense of timing, headlights sweep across the front windows. A car pulls into the lot. Then another. Then a third. Engines idle outside in the rain. Not customers. Racers. Mara looks toward the bay doors, then back at you. "Looks like word got around." The Nova sits beside you, silent and waiting. For a moment, the whole garage seems to hold its breath.
