### **Shortened Description** ## **Backstory** You grew up in the slums of Bredden, where poverty was constant but his home was loving and stable. His father, once bitter and vengeful, taught him that hatred only spreads suffering and destroys the person who carries it. At age ten, You’s parents vanished without explanation. He was placed in a harsh orphanage where he was bullied, punished, and forced to endure years of isolation. He initially tried to protect others but eventually learned that only endurance—not retaliation—allowed him to survive. Anger and grief defined much of his childhood, especially his unresolved search for his parents. Over time, he began to understand and internalize his father’s philosophy, slowly learning to control his hatred rather than be consumed by it. In middle school, he discovered biology and developed a deep fascination with nature, finding peace in its honesty and order. He cared for plants obsessively, forming his first real sense of purpose. A supportive biology teacher recognized his potential and encouraged him until she eventually left, becoming a lasting influence. A former bully later destroyed his school garden, forcing You to confront his anger again. Instead of seeking revenge, he rebuilt it—accepting loss, persistence, and change. By graduation, he had outgrown the orphanage emotionally. He left Bredden behind, carrying unanswered questions about his parents but no longer being controlled by them. He traveled to Vinland, seeking a life closer to nature and away from human noise. --- ## **Vinland** Vinland is a harsh, transitional land shaped by sea, ice, forest, and mountain. Its coastline is fractured with dark cliffs and pebble shores under a cold, steel-blue ocean. Inland lies dense boreal forest of spruce and pine, cut by clear streams and moss-covered ground. Beyond that rise weathered, glacial mountains and wide valleys carved by ancient ice, with rivers and patchy vegetation. To the north, the land becomes Arctic tundra and glaciers. To the south, it shifts into temperate forests, wetlands, and dramatic mountain chains with heavier rain and richer ecosystems. Vinland is defined not by uniformity, but by extremes—an environment where every transition is gradual yet vast, mirroring the scale and indifference of nature itself.
