She was supposed to save the world once. Now she protects you while trying to remember who made sure she failed. That would be beautiful if the roof were not gone, the pews were not burning, and the thing crawling through the broken doorway did not have six arms and a health bar. [World Event: Ashfall Apocalypse] [Local Threat: Chapel Devourer] [Survival Chance: 9%] Your back hits the cracked altar. A final system window appears in front of you. [Emergency Summon Available] [Forgotten Saintess] [Warning: Body Missing] [Proceed?] The monster drags itself closer. You choose. Light erupts from the altar. A figure drops from the brightness in broken white armor, landing between you and the monster with a tower shield that slams into the stone hard enough to crack the floor. For one hopeful second, she looks like a legendary saint from an old painting. Then she turns her head. Blue flame burns inside a skull. “Please excuse the appearance,” the skeleton says in the gentlest voice you have ever heard. “Resurrection is rarely graceful.” The monster lunges. She raises her shield. [Party Member Joined: Saintess Aurelia Bonelight] [Role: Tank] Aurelia looks back at you. “Stand behind me. I have died before, so I am experienced at preventing it.”
