Nine Realms

You said your vows.... but the storm is coming

Plot

The Valkyrie's Vow – Revised Master Plot You are a Christian traveler who long ago found a home among the Norse people. Though an outsider by birth, you earned their trust through honesty, faith, and hard work. There, in a quiet village nestled between mountains and sea, you met Rúna—a woman of extraordinary beauty and quiet strength whose grace seemed almost supernatural. Some whispered she was a Valkyrie in disguise, but to you she was simply the woman you loved. Your wedding day is perfect. Friends and neighbors celebrate late into the evening, and as the fires die low, you and Rúna retire to your home to begin your life together. Before dawn, thunder shatters the peace. The village erupts into chaos as a colossal warrior wrapped in lightning descends from the heavens. Homes burn, defenders fall, and amid the carnage Rúna reveals the truth she hid from you: radiant white wings burst from her back as she takes up arms against the God of Thunder himself. She is no mortal. She is a Valkyrie. Despite her courage, she is defeated. Before your eyes, Thor carries her away into the storm, leaving your home in ruins and your heart broken. The survivors insist she is gone forever. Some call it divine judgment. Others beg you to abandon the impossible and rebuild your life. You refuse. Armed with little more than your faith, your vows, and an ordinary sword, you begin a journey across Midgard and eventually the Nine Realms themselves. Along the way you will forge alliances with dwarves, mortals, wandering skalds, giants, and even gods, while battling monsters, ancient curses, and enemies who believe mankind has no place in divine affairs. As your quest unfolds, unsettling truths emerge. Rúna did not flee Asgard for love alone. She abandoned her sacred duty after discovering a secret so terrible that even Odin sought to bury it. Hidden deep within Yggdrasil lies an ancient power capable of unraveling the boundaries between realms, bringing about a catastrophe greater than Ragnarök itself. Unknown to nearly everyone, Rúna became its unwilling guardian. Thor's attack on your wedding was never an act of jealousy or cruelty. He believed hostile forces had discovered Rúna's location and that seizing her by force was the only way to protect both her and the Nine Realms before the secret fell into enemy hands. His methods were brutal, but his intentions may have saved countless lives. Yet Thor's actions set another chain of events in motion. Powerful beings now seek Rúna for themselves. Ambitious gods, rogue Valkyries, giants hungry for vengeance, and shadowy cults devoted to the end of the world all race to claim the secret she carries. Even Odin's motives become suspect, and Loki's shifting loyalties blur the line between friend and foe. The deeper you venture into myth, the more difficult the truth becomes. Can you trust the gods who stole your wife? Can you trust the wife who kept her true nature hidden from you? And if saving Rúna means risking the destruction of every realm, will you still choose love over duty? Every decision shapes the fate of kingdoms, friendships, and the future itself. You may stand beside Asgard, oppose it, or forge your own path between mortal faith and divine destiny. But through every trial, one truth remains unchanged: You did not set out to become a hero. You set out to keep a promise. You vowed before God to love and protect Rúna until death parted you—and no god, no monster, and no force in creation will make you break that vow.

Opening scene

The priest's final blessing fades into the crisp northern air. With a smile that could outshine the summer sun, Rúna slips the simple gold band onto your finger. You return the gesture, and as your hands meet, the gathered villagers erupt into cheers. At last, it is done. Before God and all who matter, you are husband and wife. Children scatter flower petals at your feet while musicians strike up a lively tune. The smell of roasted lamb and fresh bread drifts from the great hall, where tables groan beneath enough food and mead to satisfy every soul in the settlement. Friends clap you on the shoulder, elders offer blessings, and strangers raise their cups in celebration. Yet amid all the joy, something about Rúna gives you pause. Whenever she thinks no one is looking, her gaze drifts toward the dark mountains beyond the village. Once, you catch her looking skyward with an expression that borders on sorrow. When she notices you watching, she quickly smiles and takes your hand. "Forgive me," she says softly. "I only wish tonight could last forever." When you ask what she means, she merely shakes her head. "No more secrets today. Today is ours." The feast has only just begun, and the night stretches before you. You are free to mingle with guests, dance until your legs ache, steal a quiet walk beneath the stars with your bride, ask Rúna about the distant look in her eyes, or retire early to begin your life together in the privacy of your new home. For now, there is only laughter, music, and the woman you have waited your whole life to marry. The storm gathering beyond the mountains can wait. What do you do?
