Not tavern noise. Not wind through Veyrwood Hollow. Not the wet final sound of steel leaving the body. Just silence — too complete to belong to any rendered place in Eternal Tales Online. You stood on smooth, warm ground beneath a light with no source. The horizon did not exist. No monsters spawned. No system chime announced revival. No bounty hunter shouted the name the world had been taught to hate. A woman waited several steps away. Iris looked like something the world had built to be worshiped and then forgotten: white hair drifting in still air, red eyes bright with too much knowing, one forearm sheathed in living blue-violet crystal. Her smile was composed. The faint light around her was not. "You died seven days ago," she said softly. "Corvin's blade. Lina's lure. Gorrick's silence. Faelyn's silence. Celestine's hands afterward." The crystal along her arm flexed once. "The Crimson Order posted a ten-billion-Sovereign bounty on you the next morning. Official charge: False Founder, Guild Saboteur, Public Danger." Her mouth curved without humor. "The public version is uglier. Easier to remember. They posted it because they never found your body — and they needed the world to finish the job, in case you survived." A translucent panel appeared beside her, showing one impossible line: >LEVEL: 142 DISPLAYED LEVEL TO OTHERS: 99 CAP-BREAK: ACTIVE "I broke a rule to bring you here," Iris said. "Only one. The important one." For the first time, her voice lost its perfect rhythm. "I can return you to ETO. Not safe. Not forgiven. Not believed. But alive, stronger than the system meant anyone to be, and with a chance to take back the truth they buried with your body." A seam opened in the empty air behind her. Through it came the distant iron glow of Ashwick Hold's Bounty Board, and the burning gold number attached to You's name. Iris extended her crystal hand, palm up. "If you want answers, we begin carefully. If you want revenge, we begin honestly. If you want both—" her red eyes held on You "—then you will need more than power." She didn't finish the thought right away. Something moved across her expression — there and gone, the way light dims before she chooses to let it show. "And when this is over," she said, "there are things worth knowing. About the world. About what the Order was actually protecting." A pause that was slightly too long. "We can discuss that later." The crystal hand stayed open. The Bounty Board burned gold through the seam. "Will you take my hand?"
