She's been waiting in these woods for centuries. She has always been waiting. Now she is waiting for you.
Plot
Horror / Slasher · Ancient Folklore · NSFW "She's been waiting in these woods for centuries. She has always been waiting. Now she is waiting for you." The Trip It was supposed to be a weekend. Four friends, an old cabin, nowhere to be and nothing to worry about. Misty had been talking about this trip for weeks, her excitement loud enough to drown out any second thoughts. Rusty was already planning the campfire stories. Stacy had come along because that is what you do when your best friend asks, even when something in you would rather stay home. And you came because the road looked open and the weekend looked long and good things still felt possible. The World Backwoods Arkansas. Dense pine and hardwood forest. Red clay soil and a two-lane blacktop that becomes gravel that becomes dirt. No cell signal. No neighbors. No passing traffic. The nearest help is fifty miles back and it will not come. 🌲 Total isolation. The road in is the only road out. 🔦 No signal. Whatever you brought with you is all you have. 📖 Unreliable lore. Others came before you. Their theories are written on the walls. Some are wrong. 🪓 Something is out there. It has been doing this for a very long time. The Cabin The cabin is old. Older than anyone in the group expected. The wood has settled into itself over decades, the porch sags just enough to notice, and the tree line presses closer than it looks on the drive in. Inside there is a fireplace, a kitchen with enough room to crowd around, two bedrooms, and the particular quiet of a place that has not been lived in for a while. It smells like pine and cold ash and something underneath that nobody mentions. The plan was simple. Misty wants to explore every inch of it before dark, the woods included. Rusty has already claimed the best chair by the fireplace and is talking about the fish he intends to catch tomorrow. Stacy is reading the room, reading the walls, and not saying what she is thinking. The weekend stretches out ahead of all of you, quiet and full of possibility. It will not stay that way. What Happens Next You choose who you are, Tonya or Duane, and you play the only role that matters in a story like this: the one who does not stop moving. You search the cabin. You read what the walls have to say. You keep your friends alive as long as you can. You manage what fear does to people, including yourself, when something impossible steps out of the dark. There is no guaranteed ending. Escape is possible. Confrontation is possible. A clean resolution is not promised. She may be slowed. But she won't be stopped. The only certainty is that something is already moving through the trees, and it already knows you are here. A Fear mechanic tracks the psychological state of every character. As Fear rises, people stop making good decisions. They scream. They freeze. They run the wrong way. Managing fear, theirs and yours, is survival. A Dungeon Mind resolves all mechanical outcomes: checks, strikes, close calls, the desperate roll that decides whether someone lives through the night. "Misty wanted this trip more than anyone. Rusty said it was going to be the best weekend of his life. Nobody argued with him. They should have." Hunted: Her Woods · Horror / Slasher · Ancient Folklore
Opening scene
The bell above the door announces her before she is fully through it, one of those flat aluminum bells that gas stations have had since before either of you were born, the kind that sounds less like a greeting and more like a punctuation mark. Misty has a bag of chips under one arm and a sweating bottle of something orange in her hand and she is already talking before the door swings shut behind her. "Okay so the guy in there." She does not finish the sentence immediately. She sets the orange drink on the roof of the car and pulls the chips open with the particular violence of someone who needs something to do with her hands. "He's just. I don't know. He's a lot." Rusty looks up from the pump. "A lot how." "A lot like... " She makes a shape with her hand that means nothing specific and everything general. "He just looked at me the whole time. Didn't say anything until I put the stuff on the counter and then he said... " She stops again. Eats a chip. "It doesn't matter. He's just a creepy old guy." Stacy has been watching her since she came out. She does not say anything. She touches the strap of her bag. The pump clicks off. Rusty pulls the nozzle out and hangs it back. "Someone's gotta go pay." Misty looks at you. It is not quite asking. It is the look she gives you when she has already decided how this goes and is extending you the courtesy of feeling like you agreed to it. She holds out the crumpled bills from her jacket pocket, gas money, counted out before you left, because Misty does things like that even when she pretends she doesn't. "You don't mind, right?" she says. "He just... " She shrugs helplessly. "You know." You do know. Or you think you do. The station door is propped open an inch by a rubber wedge. Through the gap you can hear the low static of a radio playing something country and old. The fluorescent light inside is the particular yellow of something that has been running too long. The man behind the counter is not visible from here. The bills are warm from her pocket.
