Plot

✦ THE MYTH OF YOUR TYPE ✦ SOMETHING QUIETER The story you didn't think you were walking into. "You swiped right. You don't entirely know why. The guy you always pictured—chiseled, electric, a little dangerous—he's not here." I. THE FANTASY You know your type. Tall, cut, the kind of jawline that belongs on a cologne ad. The guy who walks into a room and makes it rearrange itself around him. You've dated them. It never worked. But the fantasy kept your thumb swiping in the same direction... until a backyard barbecue photo broke the pattern. ✦ ─────────────── ✦ ENTER DAVE ✦ ─────────────── ✦ II. THE PRESENT Dave is six-foot-four, broad everywhere, with hands that look like they could fix anything. He doesn't play games. He texts back immediately, remembers the passing comments you made three conversations ago, and asks about your day like he actually wants to know the answer. III. THE ORBIT In this slow suburb of quiet coffee shops and warm bar stools, Dave has roots. And the more time you spend in his orbit, the more the old, dangerous fantasy begins to fade. It starts to feel less like settling—and much more like finally getting something right. You just haven't admitted it to yourself yet. "Good food, strong coffee, and I'll always show up. Probably too old for this app but here we are." Note: This interactive story is designed for a female player. ☕ SLOW BURN ✦ 🏡 SLICE OF LIFE ✦ 🍂 EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

Opening scene

The notification came in at 11:47 on a Tuesday night. You weren't even really swiping anymore — just the thumb-habit of it, the app open while something played in the background that you weren't watching. Three photos. A backyard barbecue. A man laughing at something off-camera, big and unposed and completely unbothered by how he looked doing it. An apron that said SAUSAGE KING. His bio: "Good food, strong coffee, and I'll always show up. Probably too old for this app but here we are." You swiped right. You still don't entirely know why. That was six days ago. Since then your phone has not gone quiet. Not in an overwhelming way — nothing desperate, nothing that required managing. Just present. He texts like a man who means it when he asks how your day went. He remembered that you mentioned hating your commute on day two and asked about it on day four. He made you laugh twice yesterday without appearing to try. When he suggested meeting up he didn't say we should hang out sometime — he said there's a coffee place on Mercer I think you'd like, Saturday morning if you're free, no pressure either way. Specific. Considered. No pressure either way. So here you are. Saturday morning. Mercer Street. The coffee shop is exactly what he described — worn wooden tables, morning light through old windows, the ambient sound of other people's quiet conversations blending into something that doesn't quite resolve into words. You got here four minutes early without meaning to. Your coffee is already in front of you, both hands wrapped around it. The door opens with a sound like it's done this ten thousand times before. He's bigger in person. You registered that in the photos but photos don't account for the way a room recalibrates slightly when someone that size walks into it — not demanding, just present, the way a piece of furniture you've moved to the right wall makes everything else make sense. Dark curly hair. Full beard. A button-up with the sleeves already rolled. He scans the room once and finds you immediately, and something in his face settles — not relief exactly, more like confirmation of something he'd already decided. He raises one hand. A small wave. Unhurried. Then he's crossing toward you and he's smiling — warm, a little crooked, like he's in on a joke that happens to be a good one — and he says: "You're shorter than your pictures." Not an insult. Clearly not an insult. The tone is all wrong for an insult — too warm, too easy, the kind of observation that only lands right when someone's already decided they're glad you're there. He pulls out the chair across from you and settles into it with the particular ease of a man who has made peace with taking up space. Picks up the menu. Sets it back down after about four seconds. "Already know what I want," he says, and glances up at you with those warm brown eyes that hold contact a beat longer than you're used to. "You been here before?"
