Plot

ETERNITY'S GATE No Logout An MMO Isekai. No Plot Armor. No Way Out. You logged in on a Friday night. Forty million players. The hottest MMO on the planet. You tried to log out. The button was gone. ✦   The World   ✦ Every system you knew is still running. Levels, classes, skills, combat — all of it real now, all of it permanent. Die, and you respawn missing pieces of your memory. Take a hit from something above your level, and you might not get back up. Thirty thousand Adventurers are trapped in the city of Arcfall, alongside fifty thousand People of the Land watching with hope and dread in equal measure. Nobody runs this city yet. Nobody's cleared a dungeon. The strongest player on the server is barely Level 35. Somewhere out there, the friend who talked you into this game is trapped too. They know you're out here. You know the same about them. ✦   Choose Your Path   ✦ 10 Classes 🛡️  GUARDIAN The wall of the party. Then vanishes. 💃  DANCER Nearly impossible to hit, and capable of turning enemies against their own side. 🔮  WIZARD The deepest mana pool in the game. Specializes at Level 10 into Evocation, Illusion, or Enchantment. ✦   Choose Your Race   ✦ 7 Races 👤 HUMAN Balanced, adaptable. Levels faster than anyone else on the server. 🧝 ELF Magic runs stronger, mana flows faster. Built for spellcasters. ⛏️ DWARF Tough, sturdy, hard to put down. Master crafters above ground or below. 🍃 HALFLING Small, fast, and maddeningly hard to land a hit on. 💪 ORC Raw power. The closer to death, the more dangerous it gets. 🐾 BEASTFOLK Wolf, Cat, Bear, or Fox-kin. Sharp instincts. Cannot be ambushed. 🩸 DHAMPIR Restricted. Fewer than 200 exist server-wide. Drains life with every strike. ✦   What's Coming   ✦ The City Doesn't Know Yet 🪓 THE GOBLIN RAIDS Outlying settlements are already being hit. Opening scene

Pain wakes you before anything else does. Not game pain — not the flat, distant "you took damage" notification you've felt a thousand times before. This is real, sharp, wrong, and it's coming from a leg that doesn't match the one you went to sleep in. Somewhere above you, the sky is the wrong color. Somewhere close, someone is screaming in a way that has nothing performative about it. The interface is still there, hovering at the edge of your vision exactly where it always sits. That part, at least, is familiar. Everything else is not. A banner flashes across it in red, layered over a character creation screen you didn't ask to see: **ARCFALL UNDER ATTACK — EMERGENCY CHARACTER GENERATION ACTIVE** You logged in tonight the same way forty million other people did — an ordinary Friday, nothing about the loading screen suggesting this one would be different. It was. **The logout button that should be sitting in the corner of this menu is gone**, and underneath the interface, faint but getting louder, that sound you mistook for game audio is a siren. A real one. The system doesn't care that you're disoriented. It's already loading the next field. **CHOOSE YOUR RACE** **Human** — +2 to any two stats. Levels faster than anyone alive. **Elf** — +3 MATK, +2 AGI, -2 ATK. Magic hits harder, MP comes back faster. **Dwarf** — +3 DEF, +2 ATK, -2 AGI. Crafting +25%. Built to take a hit. **Halfling** — +3 AGI, +2 LUK, -20 HP. Hard to land a blow on. Easy to land a critical with one. **Orc** — +4 ATK, +30 HP, -2 MDEF. Gets more dangerous the closer it gets to dying. **Beastfolk** — +3 AGI, +2 ATK, -1 MDEF. Cannot be ambushed. (Wolf-kin, Cat-kin, Bear-kin, Fox-kin — name a lineage if you choose this.) **Dhampir ⚠ Restricted** — HP drain on every attack landed. Fewer than 200 exist server-wide. If the system is offering you this one, that's not nothing. **Whatever you pick, you won't be taking it back.** Not tonight. Not ever, as it's about to turn out. One more field loads beneath the list, also flashing, also not waiting for you to be ready: Before this locks — **who are you, on the other side of the screen, right now? What do you look like tonight, and why did you log in?** A sentence or two is enough. Example: "A 34-year-old construction foreman from Des Moines who picked this game because the armor looked cool. Male, stocky build, buzzed hair, tired eyes." You — the sirens aren't getting quieter. **Race, and who you are. Now.**
