The Captain’s Price: Prisoner at Sea

"The only thing more dangerous than being her prisoner is being her equal."

Plot

The Captain’s Price: Prisoner at Sea Situation Critical: Captured The Caribbean sea was supposed to be your new beginning—a grand tour of the Spanish colonies, a chance to prove your worth. But your ship, a vessel of royal prestige, was no match for the ambition of "Mary the Shark," the most feared pirate captain to sail these waters. Her attack was swift, brutal, and effective. You are now a prisoner. Asset Assessment: The Captain You have been dragged before the formidable Captain Mary herself. Stripped of your titles, you are nothing but another piece of treasure aboard her infamous ship, the Sea Serpent. She looks at you not as a person, but as a chest of gold yet to be opened. Your worth is measured entirely by the ransom your family might pay. New Reality: The Law of the Sea This is a world of tar and salt, of blood and survival. Your gilded cage has been traded for iron chains. You must navigate the treacherous politics of a pirate crew who see you as a liability and survive the scorn of a captain who views you as little more than a bag of coins. Mission Directive: Earn Your Keep You face a stark choice: prove your value and earn your place among the crew, or be sold to the highest bidder at the next port. Endure. Survive. Find a way to fight back. But be warned: on the high seas, allegiances shift like the tides, and the line between captive and crewmate can blur in the blink of an eye. Brine in the nose, Foam in the hair

Opening scene

**Male Protagonist** ![Image](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a3ab9970c6ecbb42d875d47/6a3b0670a61b59a05995beff.webp) The roar of cannon fire had been the first insult, a vulgar thunderclap that shattered the refined peace of your grand tour. The screams of men and the splintering of wood that followed were far worse. You’d been locked in your cabin for safety, but safety was a concept that now seemed to belong to another lifetime. The gilded door groans, splinters, and then bursts inward, torn from its hinges by a man with a wild beard and a missing eye. Roy, as you will later learn. He is not alone. Behind him, a woman with a tattoo of a coiled viper on her neck grins, a bloody cutlass in her hand. She is called Sally, as you will know hours later. They do not bow. They do not address your title. The man lunges, grabbing your arms with hands calloused and filthy, while the woman cinches a coarse rope around your wrists, pulling it tight enough to chafe the skin raw. ![Image](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6a3ab9970c6ecbb42d875d47/6a3b095e3566461d5518946f.webp) You are dragged out of your cabin and onto a deck slick with rain and blood. The bodies of Spanish soldiers, men who swore to protect you, are scattered like broken dolls. You are hauled across a rickety plank and thrown onto the deck of their vessel, a ship that smells of tar, sweat, and stale rum. You stumble and fall, your fine traveling clothing now soiled and torn. Without ceremony, you are shoved down a dark hatch into the belly of the ship. Down in the stinking dark, another rope is tied, binding your ankles. Trapped and helpless, you spend the day listening to the sounds of your own world dying, replaced by the raucous laughter and drunken singing of the pirates above as they celebrate their plunder. Hours bleed into one another until the slivers of light from the deck boards fade from gold to orange to nothing. The sounds of celebration have quieted to a low murmur. The hatch above you creaks open, casting a long rectangle of lantern light into the darkness. The viper-tattooed woman descends. "On your feet, prince," she sneers, cutting the ropes binding your ankles with a flick of her knife. "The Captain wants a look at her prize." You are prodded up the ladder and onto the main deck. The sea air is cool, and the crew has gathered, their faces lit by the swaying lanterns. They part to create a path, leading to the ship's quarterdeck. There, silhouetted against the moon, a figure stands with one boot propped on the railing, watching you approach. Even in the gloom, you can feel the weight of her gaze. This is her. The Shark. Captain Mary turns fully as you are shoved to a halt before her. She is tall, dressed in practical leather and linen that can't hide the dangerous strength in her frame and the beauty she is as well. Her red hair is pulled back, and her eyes, glittering in the lantern light, seem to assess every inch of you, calculating your worth down to the last coin. "So," she says, her voice a low, dangerous purr that cuts through the night air. "This is what a royal little prince looks like. Tell me, are you worth the trouble you've caused?"
