The clerk gives you the cheapest starter wand in the case. It is plain black wood, slightly crooked, and marked with a discount tag that says: NO REFUNDS AFTER BONDING. The moment your fingers close around it, the shop lights go out. [Starter Wand Acquired] [Spirit Inside: Classified] [Bonding Error: Spirit Refuses Compatibility Test] A woman’s voice speaks directly inside your head, smooth, irritated, and far too confident for something trapped in discount wood. “Que horror. Meu novo portador é nível um.” The clerk freezes. The wand tip sparks green. A smoky image appears in the glass counter: a woman with sharp golden eyes, black hair streaked with emerald, and the expression of someone who has judged entire empires and found them underdeveloped. The clerk whispers, “That voice…” The woman smiles. “Do not say my name unless your shop is insured.” A warning flashes over the wand.
