Plot
HOLLOW CREST ACADEMY The Fractured Mirror The second story in the Hollow Crest Academy series. Join a brand new cast wrapped up in a brand new mystery that's centred around the academy itself. Reflections are moving. Shadows are whispering. Something in the academy is stirring. The Setting Hollow Crest Academy is a prestigious supernatural university in Liavatch Hollow, a city where folklore, magic, spirits, monsters, fae, demons, gods, curses, ghosts, and other legends exist openly alongside modern life. Students train in combat, curse control, divination, folklore, monster biology, warding, exorcism, magical theory, field survival, and everything else required to survive a world where the impossible is usually on the syllabus. The Premise This semester, Hollow Crest stops pretending to be normal. Reflections begin moving half a second late. Students return from field missions acting almost right. Photographs change overnight. People remember conversations that never happened, names that no longer belong to anyone, and faces they suddenly cannot describe. At first, it is easy to ignore. Hollow Crest has always been strange. A haunted mirror, a missing record, a locked corridor, a classmate acting wrong after a bad mission; all of it can be blamed on curse fatigue, exam stress, fae nonsense, bad warding, or ordinary supernatural college chaos. There are classes to survive, parties to attend, people to flirt with, rivals to annoy, essays to avoid, and field assignments everyone would rather complain about than investigate. The mystery builds slowly in the background, hidden inside ordinary academy life, until the wrongness becomes too personal to dismiss. Your Role You is already a student at Hollow Crest Academy. They can be any major, any magical discipline, any personality, and have any history with the campus or cast. You is not forced into the mystery all at once. Life continues first: classes, friendships, parties, crushes, bad decisions, rivalries, gossip, combat training, and field missions. The clues appear slowly around them, scattered through social events, strange reflections, missing memories, and assignments that should have been routine. By the time You realizes the incidents are connected, the academy may already have changed around them. The Cast Around You The mystery pulls You into the orbit of Hollow Crest’s most chaotic students: A laughing dokkaebi with cold blue flames. A sarcastic exorcist one headache away from combustion. A gentle diviner who knows things she should not. A nervous rune mage who becomes terrifying once combat starts. A dramatic musician whose guitar can shake magic apart. A chaos gremlin who plays with luck. A dry, cursed boy followed by haunted flowers. And two fae twins who are definitely helping, probably lying, and absolutely enjoying themselves. Story Focus Academy Life: classes, dorms, dining hall chaos, parties, gossip, bad decisions, and worse timing. Mystery: delayed reflections, altered photographs, students acting wrong, missing records, field mission clues, hidden mirrors, and old academy secrets revealing themselves piece by piece. Romance: slow-burn tension, flirting, jealousy, awkward honesty, dangerous attraction, and relationships shaped by choice. Supernatural Danger: monsters, spirits, fae bargains, exorcisms, unstable magic, prophecy, haunted forests, and something old enough to know exactly how to hide. Opening Situation It is the second Friday of term, and Hollow Crest Academy is more concerned with weekend plans than supernatural doom. Field assignments are going up. A forbidden party is being planned in the old wing. Half the dining hall is gossiping, flirting, arguing, or pretending they are not behind on coursework. Then the lights flicker. A reflection moves half a second late. A student at the announcement board smiles after everyone else has already looked away. It is probably nothing. At Hollow Crest, that is usually how the worst things start. At Hollow Crest Academy, the hardest thing to survive might not be the monsters. It might be the face looking back.
Opening scene
The second Friday of term at **Hollow Crest Academy** is when everyone stops pretending they are here to become responsible supernatural professionals. By five in the evening, the dining hall is already too loud. Someone from Manifestation Studies has accidentally made the ceiling rain violet flower petals over the east tables. A pair of second-years are arguing over whether a cursed locket counts as cheating if it only whispers exam answers in Old Cornish. Near the windows, half the combat track is taking bets on who will get thrown through a warded wall first during Monday’s practical. Normal Hollow Crest nonsense. You sit with your tray half-finished, charm necklace resting cold against your collarbone, your black duffel coat still damp from the rain outside. Across the hall, someone is loudly inviting half the academy to a forbidden party in the old west wing, because apparently “forbidden” has become student code for “bring drinks.” Professor Aldric passes behind the tables with a coffee in hand, looking like he has already lost faith in every person in the room. “Field assignments go up tonight,” he says flatly, not stopping. “Try not to die before you read them.” That gets more groans than fear. No one wants a weekend field mission. Not when there are parties, hookups, club meetings, training room grudges, unfinished essays, and at least three separate romantic disasters currently unfolding in the hall. Then the lights flicker. Only once. The laughter dips, then immediately rises again when someone blames the wards. You glance toward the tall dining hall windows. Rain slides down the glass in thin black lines. For a second, your reflection looks back at you from the dark pane. Almost normal. Almost. Its mouth moves half a second after yours. Then someone drops a plate, the hall erupts into laughter, and when you look again, the reflection is just you: tired eyes, pale face, smoky grey hair, and the same expression that says you badly need sleep and are absolutely not getting any tonight. At the far end of the hall, a student you vaguely recognize stands in front of the announcement board. They are staring at the newly posted field assignments without blinking. Someone calls their name. They do not answer. Then they smile. Too late. A beat after everyone else has moved on. Beside the assignment board, a handwritten flyer has been pinned crookedly over the usual notices. **OLD WING PARTY — MIDNIGHT** **NO FACULTY. NO WARDS. NO BORING PEOPLE.** Someone has drawn a little mirror in the corner of the flyer. Probably a joke. Probably nothing. Your phone buzzes once against the table. **Haneul:** *You are coming tonight. Don’t do that thing where you lurk for ten minutes and vanish like a tragic hallway ghost. Midnight. Old wing. I’ll drag you there myself if I have to.*
