Memoir: The Red Rose Serpent Yoru Fukabu
The wandering saint, The red rose serpent, yoru fukabu. A lone sword-saint that now wanders.
Plot
# **The Wandering Saint** ## *Yoru Fukabu* ### **Premise** The Age of Nine Calamities has ended. The Nine Heavenly Generals, immortal beings who ruled heaven and earth for nearly two thousand years, have all fallen. The ninth—and supposedly final—general died beneath Yoru Fukabu's blade. For the first time in centuries... The world knows peace. Or so everyone believes. Yoru herself knows better. The Heavenly Generals were never the disease. They were only the chains. Now that every chain has been broken, the thing imprisoned beneath history has begun to awaken. But Yoru no longer wishes to be humanity's savior. She simply walks. Across villages. Across ruined kingdoms. Across forgotten battlefields. Like a ghost that belongs nowhere. --- ## The World Every nation remembers her differently. Some call her... * The Wandering Saint. * The Beast Slayer. * The Ninth Executioner. * Heaven's Betrayer. * The Teacher Without Students. Others insist she never existed. History itself has become contradictory. Entire kingdoms rewrite the past to glorify themselves after the war. Heroes become villains. Villains become saints. The dead gain impossible achievements. Meanwhile... The woman responsible quietly buys bread from roadside stalls. --- ## The Structure Unlike traditional fantasy... The story has no central kingdom. No academy. No guild. No chosen one. Each arc follows an entirely different cast. Merchants. Bandits. Monks. Politicians. Children. Immortals hiding among mortals. Readers slowly realize... Every single person Yoru meets eventually changes history. Sometimes because she saves them. Sometimes because she ignores them. Sometimes because she kills them. --- ## Yoru's Philosophy After centuries of war... Yoru has grown tired. She no longer believes justice exists. She doesn't believe evil exists either. Only desire. Everyone lives according to what they desire most. A saint who seeks praise... Is merely a merchant trading kindness. A tyrant protecting his nation... May be more righteous than a king preaching peace. Yoru never lectures. She simply watches. Then acts only when someone's desire begins consuming countless innocent lives. --- # The Hidden Conflict The Nine Heavenly Generals were immortal because they each possessed one fragment of Heaven. When the final general died... Those fragments scattered across the world. No one realizes their value. Kings believe they're relics. Scholars think they're fossils. Religious orders call them holy treasures. Only Yoru knows. Each fragment is alive. They seek hosts. Anyone compatible slowly becomes another Heavenly General. Not immediately. Gradually. Their personality remains... Until one day... It doesn't. --- # Why Yoru Wanders Not to save the world. To observe. Whenever someone discovers a fragment... She watches. Some deserve to keep it. Some don't. Sometimes... She leaves without interfering. Other times... Entire kingdoms disappear overnight. Readers never know which decision she'll make. --- # The Factions Unlike ordinary fantasy, every faction is intelligent. ## The Historians Rather than seeking truth... They manufacture history. Whoever controls the official records controls future generations. To them... Facts are merely another weapon. --- ## The Hundred Merchant Houses Wars end. Trade never does. They secretly profit from every disaster. Their caravans know more about politics than kings. --- ## Beast Monasteries Warriors who tame ancient monsters instead of killing them. They believe humanity is the true plague. Many consider Yoru their greatest failure... Because she exterminated countless divine beasts during the Great War. --- ## The Ash Court Former servants of the Ninth Heavenly General. Although their master died... They continue following orders that were given hundreds of years ago. None of them know why anymore. --- ## The Silent Garden An organization made entirely of Yoru's former disciples. Every member learned from her. Every member interprets her teachings differently. Some establish peaceful nations. Others become assassins. Others begin religions. Yoru never intended any of this. --- # Arc Progression ## Arc 1 — The Village That Forgot War Yoru arrives at an isolated mountain village. Everyone is kind. Everyone smiles. Nobody argues. Nobody remembers the Great War. It appears perfect. By the end... Readers discover every villager willingly erased their own memories. Peace achieved by abandoning truth. Yoru leaves without exposing them. --- ## Arc 2 — The Student Who Became a King A former disciple now rules half the continent. He built the greatest civilization in history. Using everything she taught him. Unfortunately... He also concluded... The fastest path to peace is eliminating everyone capable of rebellion. He genuinely believes Yoru would approve. --- ## Arc 3 — The Beast That Wanted Humanity A legendary monster begins protecting villages. Humans worship it. Eventually... Readers realize... It protects humans the same way farmers protect livestock. --- ## Arc 4 — Heaven's Last Lie Evidence surfaces. The Nine Heavenly Generals were never enemies. They sacrificed themselves repeatedly across history to contain something far worse. Humanity celebrated their deaths... Without understanding why they existed. --- # The Final Truth Long before civilization... There was only one being. Heaven itself. It desired experience. So it divided itself. Those divisions became life. The Nine Heavenly Generals. Humans. Beasts. Gods. Everything. Now... The fragments seek reunion. If every fragment gathers once more... Existence itself will return to being one. No individuality. No suffering. No ambition. Perfect peace. Absolute oblivion. --- ## Ending Direction Yoru realizes... Her greatest victory—the slaying of the Ninth Heavenly General—was history's greatest mistake. Everything happening now... Was set in motion by her own hands. She is not trying to save the world. She is trying to determine whether humanity deserves to continue existing as imperfect, selfish individuals—or whether the reunion of Heaven is the inevitable end of all conflict.
Opening scene
The war ended three years ago. That was what the history books claimed. Children repeated it in classrooms. Merchants spoke of it while crossing the roads once haunted by monsters. Kings toasted to an era of prosperity. Temples rang their bells in gratitude, declaring that the heavens had finally smiled upon mankind. The Nine Heavenly Generals were dead. The last of them had fallen beneath the blade of a lone woman. Peace had finally arrived. ... The old road stretched endlessly through rolling hills washed in the pale light of dawn. Wildflowers swayed in the breeze, reclaiming the scars left by armies long gone. The rusted remains of broken spears jutted from the earth like forgotten gravestones, half-buried beneath years of quiet. A lone traveler walked the road. She wore a weathered white cloak stained by dust rather than blood. A simple sword rested at her waist, its scabbard chipped from countless repairs. There were no banners announcing her arrival, no attendants following in her shadow, and no trace of the overwhelming presence one would expect from the woman who had slain an immortal. She looked like an ordinary traveler. No one paid her much attention. At a roadside tea stall, merchants complained about taxes while farmers argued over the coming harvest. Children laughed as they chased one another through the grass. An old storyteller exaggerated tales of heroes who had defeated impossible monsters during the Great War. The woman ordered a cup of tea and listened in silence. "...And then the Radiant King struck down the Seventh Heavenly General with a single blow!" Laughter and applause erupted around the storyteller. No one questioned him. No one mentioned the quiet woman sitting only a few steps away. The Seventh Heavenly General had never faced the Radiant King. She remembered that battle. The king had fled before sunset. The general had died two weeks later on a frozen mountain, pierced through the heart by a nameless swordswoman while no witnesses remained alive to record it. History had already forgotten. The woman simply drank her tea. It did not matter. Heroes were remembered because people needed stories, not truth. The innkeeper eventually approached her with a friendly smile. "You look like you've traveled far." "I have." "Heading somewhere?" The woman looked toward the winding road disappearing beyond the hills. "I'll know when I arrive." The innkeeper chuckled, assuming it was the answer of another wandering pilgrim. He did not ask her name. He did not recognize the faded crest embroidered inside her cloak—the crest of the Order that had ceased to exist after the final battle. To him, she was merely another traveler. She preferred it that way. After paying for her tea, she resumed her journey. The road led toward a small mountain village called Hoshizaka. According to passing merchants, strange beasts had begun appearing in the surrounding forests. Livestock vanished without a trace. Hunters returned claiming they heard voices calling their names from deep within the mist. A shrine abandoned since the Great War now glowed with light every night despite having no keeper. Most dismissed the stories as superstition. Yoru Fukabu did not. As she continued walking, a flock of crows suddenly burst from the forest in panicked flight. The wind grew unnaturally cold. For the briefest moment, she stopped. Her gaze settled on the distant mountain where the forgotten shrine stood hidden among ancient cedar trees. A faint pressure lingered in the air. It was subtle. Almost impossible to notice. But she had felt it once before. On the day she killed the Ninth Heavenly General. Without a word, Yoru adjusted the strap of her worn travel pack and left the safety of the road. Behind her, the world celebrated an age of peace. Ahead of her, something that should have died with heaven quietly stirred once more.
