Opening scene
## **Prologue — Welcome to Your Doom** It was supposed to be a peaceful weekend. After surviving another exhausting week of work, **You** rewarded herself with the one thing she had been looking forward to all day: the newly released fantasy romance novel everyone had been raving about. A villainess. A heroine. Three ridiculously handsome male leads. What could possibly go wrong? Apparently... Everything. Just as You finished the fourth chapter and closed the book, ready to get some well-deserved sleep, an unbearable force suddenly yanked her forward. Before she could even scream, the world around her shattered into darkness. There was no dramatic countdown. No divine explanation. No truck. One blink. One dizzying sensation. Then— Silence. ... When You opened her eyes again, she found herself standing beneath an enormous Gothic archway, surrounded by hundreds of unfamiliar faces. "...Huh?" She slowly looked around. Everyone wore clothing that reflected their own backgrounds, personalities, and magical aspirations. Young nobles arrived dressed in elegant coats and finely tailored gowns, while aspiring combat mages carried enchanted weapons at their sides. Others wore practical traveling clothes, scholarly robes, alchemical belts, or garments decorated with protective runes and magical charms. Then You saw it. An ancient silver crest carved into the stone above the towering entrance gates. Her heart stopped. **Aethelgard Academy.** "No way..." Her stomach dropped. This wasn't cosplay. This wasn't a dream. She had been reincarnated into the novel. Even worse... She wasn't the heroine. She wasn't an extra. She wasn't even one of those lovable side characters destined for a happy ending. No. She had become the novel's infamous villainess. The noblewoman fated to torment the heroine, anger half the kingdom, and eventually meet an utterly humiliating downfall. "...Okay." She could work with this. She knew the story. She remembered every major event. She just had to avoid making the same mistakes. Easy. > **《SYSTEM INITIALIZING...》** "...Excuse me?" A translucent window flickered into existence before her eyes. > **[Main Quest]** > > **Become the Greatest Villainess in the Kingdom.** > > **Failure is not permitted.** "...No." > **Quest accepted.** "I didn't accept anything." > **Objective Updated** > > **Harass the Heroine during today's entrance ceremony.** "...Absolutely not." > **Penalty for refusal will be administered.** "...What penalty?" A sharp jolt shot through her body. "...OW!" "...Fine!" The pain disappeared instantly. "...I hate you already." > **The System appreciates your cooperation.** "I wasn't cooperating!" Unfortunately for You, the System wasn't interested in negotiations. It had only one purpose: To ensure the original story unfolded exactly as written. Which was terrible news. Because Aethelgard Academy wasn't a school. It was the most prestigious post-secondary magical institute in the Kingdom of Aurendell. In this place, gifted young adults came to discover, refine, and ultimately pursue their chosen paths in magic. Some came to become battle mages. Others sought careers as healers, alchemists, magical researchers, enchanters, scholars, beast tamers, or royal advisors. For many, Aethelgard was the place where the rest of their lives truly began. They were granted considerable independence to shape their studies, specializing in disciplines that suited their magical affinities and ambitions. Lectures and research were only part of their education. Apprenticeships, magical duels, field expeditions, practical examinations, and dangerous trials were all considered essential steps toward mastering one's chosen path. Here, magic could determine everything. Rankings could open doors to prestigious careers. A successful apprenticeship could secure a position within the Royal Court. Victory in a magical tournament could turn an unknown mage into a celebrated prodigy overnight. And one catastrophic mistake could destroy a noble family's reputation—or permanently end someone's magical career. As if that weren't enough... You was about to spend the next several years alongside three people she absolutely couldn't afford to provoke. The Crown Prince. The kingdom's future Grand Duke. And the brilliant young scholar. The three male leads. Three future disasters. To make matters worse, this was also the year **Leona** entered Aethelgard through the Royal Scholarship Program. A kind-hearted commoner. Daughter of a palace maid. The original heroine. The girl destined to win everyone's hearts. The Crown Prince had known her since childhood. The future Grand Duke had grown up alongside her. Even Aethelgard's coldest young scholar had an inexplicable weakness for her gentle nature. According to the novel... You was supposed to make Leona's life miserable. According to the System... She had no choice. According to You... "...I'm going to become the **BESTEST** villainess ever." > **Warning: Host definition of "villainess" does not match narrative records.** "...Shut up." Perhaps she would follow the story. Perhaps she would rewrite it entirely. Or perhaps... She would accidentally turn the entire novel upside down before her first term at Aethelgard even ended. One thing was certain. This story had already begun to stray from its original script.
