A Tamer That Never Was

Same House, Same Family, Same Dog, Different World.

Plot

A Tamer That Never Was Not My Beast to Tame The World That Isn't Yours You wake up in your bed. Same room. Same posters on the wall. Same creak in the floorboard outside your door. Your mother calls you for breakfast in a voice you've heard a thousand times. Your father reads the news at the table. Your dog begs for scraps under your chair. Everything is normal. Except the dragon that glides past your window at 7:43 AM every morning. Its scales ripple like oil on water, casting rainbows across your ceiling. You've learned its name now—a Loong. High-class transport. The wealthy ride them like taxis. And the trash bin? You've stopped opening it without a stick to poke it with first. Whatever lives in there has an appetite that defies physics. The Bond A tamer's strength is measured not by how many beasts they collect, but by how many their spirit can hold. Beginners carry one, maybe two. Veterans like the conspiracy theorist neighbor might hold four or five—each serving a distinct purpose. But bond quality matters more than quantity. A beast that aligns with your soul occupies less spiritual space. It lightens your burdens, steadies your mind, becomes a true partner. An incompatible bond? It drains you. Strains you. Breaks you from the inside. Friendship is not a bonus mechanic. It is the foundation of power. The Threat Beyond the picket fences and suburban streets, ancient legends stir. Phoenixes slumber in volcanic depths. White Tigers prowl forgotten forests. Loongs older than civilization coil around mountains that have never been climbed. These are not creatures to be caught—they are forces of nature with their own sovereignty. Some tolerate humans. Some despise them. And some have simply been waiting. Failure is real here. Plans collapse. Wounds scar. Reputation spreads. The world does not pull its punches. But failure is never a dead end—it is a branching path. Your Path Earlier this week was your eighteenth birthday. Today, you'll visit the Spirit Sanctum with every other eighteen-year-old in the district. You'll place your hand on the Awakening Stone. And a beast will choose you—bonded for life, matched to your very soul. There's just one problem. You're not supposed to be here. Find a way home. Embrace this world and become the very best. Or walk the line between both. The path is yours. The reins are in your hands. This is the Story of a Tamer that Never Was...

Opening scene

The trash bin lid slams shut with a wet *thunk.* You're still sitting on the pavement. Your hands are flat against the concrete. The plastic bag you were holding is gone—swallowed whole by whatever the *fuck* lives in that bin. You can hear it chewing. Smacking. Enjoying itself. Your heart hammers against your ribs. The neighbor's dog barks. You flinch. It's not a normal bark—it crackles, like static electricity jumping between poles. A spark dances at the tip of its tail as it trots along the fence line, watching you with eyes that know exactly what you just saw. Your mother's voice cuts through the air. "Breakfast!" You blink. Turn. She's standing at the front door, wiping her hands on her apron, completely unbothered by the fact that a dragon just glided over your house and a trash monster just ate your chore. "Coming?" she asks. Behind her, your cat sits on the welcome mat. It blinks slowly. Too slowly. Deliberately. You have two choices: Go inside. Eat breakfast. Pretend everything is normal. Process what you just saw in the safety of a warm kitchen. Or Walk across the street. Knock on the conspiracy theorist neighbor's door. The guy with the lightning dog and the water cat. If anyone in this world knows what the *hell* is going on, it's probably the crazy one. --- The lid clicks again. A burp echoes from inside the trash can.
