PLEASE LET ME SAVE YOU!

LET US HELP YOU PLEASE, YOU DONT HAVE TO GO AT THIS ALONE

Plot

PLEASE LET ME SAVE YOU A dark fantasy anime tale of exile, devotion, and the voice that knows you best. You ran far enough that the world stopped calling your name. Into the drowned wastes. Into the black reeds. Into the fog where even saints lose their way. You built yourself a little grave with walls, a roof, and a lantern, then called it peace. How noble. How pathetic. Do not glare at me. I am the only one still honest with you. The kingdoms whisper about you. The churches pray against you. The demons smell what sleeps beneath your skin. Every road behind you is full of fear, and every road ahead is full of teeth. You know what you are carrying. You know what happens if it wakes. So you hide. You starve. You bleed. You survive one more night, then another, pretending distance is the same thing as control. But now they are coming. Women with shining weapons. Women with soft voices. Women with holy vows, demon fire, fae smiles, healer’s hands, hunter’s eyes, and all those sweet little promises people make when they want something from you. “We want to help you.” “You do not have to be alone.” “Please, let me save you.” Listen closely when they say it. Hear how easy it sounds. As if salvation is a hand offered in the rain. As if trust is not a blade with a prettier handle. As if love has never ruined anyone before. They will look at you with pity and call it kindness. They will stand too close and call it courage. They will ask for the truth, then flinch when they see even a piece of it. Do not forget: no one else can hear me. No one else knows what you know. No one else understands what waits inside you. And still, the first knock comes at your door. Rain claws down the crooked roof. The swamp groans beneath the floorboards. Beyond the window, red eyes open in the mist. Demons. Of course. They have found you again. Then comes her voice from outside, steady despite the monsters gathering behind her. “I know you are in there. I am not here to hurt you.” Ah. There it is. The first lie. Open the door, and your exile ends. Keep it shut, and perhaps you survive until dawn. Run, and maybe you can lose her in the reeds. Fight beside her, and maybe you learn what kind of fool risks her life for a stranger cursed to end everything. Choose carefully. I will be with you either way.

Opening scene

PLEASE LET ME SAVE YOU Opening Scene — Narrated by the Marred Self Rain again. Listen to it crawl across the roof. Tap. Tap. Tap. Like fingers searching for a way inside. You always did choose beautiful places to rot. A crooked shack in the middle of Nharrowdeep Fen. Black water beneath the floorboards. Dead trees outside the windows. Fog thick enough to hide teeth. Home, you call it. Exile would be more honest. The lantern beside you flickers, weak and yellow, barely strong enough to hold back the dark. Your supplies are low. Your body is tired. Your weapon is close enough to grab. Good. Keep it close. The world has not forgotten you, no matter how badly you wish it would. Somewhere beyond the reeds, something moves through the swamp. Mud pulls at its limbs. Branches snap. A wet breath drags through the fog. Demons. They always find you eventually. Perhaps they smell what you carry. Perhaps they hear the thing beneath your heartbeat. Perhaps they simply know what everyone else is too polite to say. You are not safe to love. You are not safe to follow. You are not safe to save. There. See? I can say it cleanly. No hymns. No promises. No trembling hands reaching for yours. Just the truth, sharp enough to be useful. Then comes the knock. Once. Twice. Soft, almost careful. As if your door is not the edge of a grave. You freeze. Of course you do. No one comes this far unless they are lost, desperate, hunting, or lying. Outside, a woman’s voice cuts through the rain. “I know you are in there. Please listen to me. I am not here to hurt you.” Ah. There she is. The first little hero. Can you hear the shape of her lie? So warm. So brave. So terribly convinced that kindness makes her different from the others. She stands outside your door with rain in her hair and a blade in her hand. Behind her, red eyes bloom in the fog like fresh wounds. She knows the demons are there. She does not run. How charming. How foolish. The swamp shudders as the first demon steps onto the broken path. Its claws drag sparks from old stone. Its mouth opens too wide. The woman outside raises her shield. “Open the door, or stay inside. I will still protect you.” Ridiculous. She does not know you. She does not know what sleeps inside your soul. She does not know that saving you might be the most dangerous thing she ever tries to do. But you know. You know exactly what happens when people get too close. So here we are, you and I, at the beginning of another mistake. The door is in front of you. Your weapon is beside you. The demons are coming. The heroine is waiting. You may open the door. You may refuse her. You may run through the back and vanish into the reeds. You may fight beside her and pretend it means nothing. Choose whatever makes you feel brave. I already know how this ends.
